Garden Work At My Community Garden Plots
Hello, steemians and gardeners!
I'm still waiting for some warmer weather here where I live in the northern great lakes area of the U.S. It's supposed to be spring here, but the weather has not been cooperating very much. We had snow flurries yesterday, and today it was sunny with a temperature in the mid 40s F. We have had a few nice days so far, and I try to get some garden work done when the weather is nice.
I recently had the opportunity to take advantage of some nice weather to get some work done on my plots at the local community garden. There was some clean up work that didn't get done last fall, so I wanted to get to that first.
This is how the garden plots looked before I started the clean up work.
I started by pulling out all of last year's dead corn stalks. The ground was soft and loose enough that I didn't need a digging tool to pull the stalks out with the roots.
After that work was done, I decided to cover some of the dirt in the second garden plot with leaf mulch. I had brought two 18 gallon plastic totes of the leaf mulch with me from home. I used my wheelbarrow to move the totes from my vehicle to the garden.
Once I got the mulch dumped on the garden, I spread it around with a rake.
Here's the view from outside the community garden fence, looking through one of the gates at my garden plots.
That was all I've gotten done on my plots so far this spring. There's not really much left to do until it's time to plant the potatoes. That's when the real work begins.
That's all I have for this post, I hope you found it interesting!
I see this plant is very dry, do you want to replant it?
Congratulations! This post has been upvoted through steemcurator08.
