💪#club100👍 | How to Care for an Orchid Flower
Hello friends, hello people who love to deal with soil and garden. I just saw this community. I thought to myself that I would prepare my first post here immediately. I will talk about the orchids in our house, the little orchid care I did today.
If I give an approximate time, one of my orchids is 3 years old and the other 2 years old. I mean, these are the ages after they came to us, I don't know how many years they lived before they came to us. Let's move on to the information and my own actions.
The first golden rule you need to know before moving on to information about maintenance is actually this. If an orchid has come to you, without wasting much time, open its pot, pour the soil and remove the sponge between its roots.
It's been years since I removed this sponge because the orchids I have are old. What I did was this. Over the years they give new roots and new leaves from above, while the roots below age and the lower leaves turn yellow and fall off. In this process, as the trunk moves upwards, new roots overflow. These roots cannot be fed during irrigation. At the same time, due to the position of the orchids in the house, it is possible to turn towards the glass and lie on its side in the flowerpot.
In short, I will clean the root and bury my orchid in its own pot, a little to the bottom and complete its maintenance. By the way, my purple blooming orchid has buds on its branches, it will bloom soon. The other one has only leaves now. But I would like to show you the photo I have from last year. They look so beautiful together.
Like the leaves of the orchid, its roots also perform photosynthesis. In other words, its roots also like light, so the pots should be transparent. It is not difficult to care for, just because it is a little different from other flowers, they usually have a short lifespan in the people they are gifted. The biggest cause of death is over watering. When the roots rot from water and moisture, the flower is a pity as the stem can no longer get enough nutrients.
As you can see in the pictures, my orchid, which was especially small, was too oriented towards the sun. I took it out of the pot in the first place. I cut the brown, yellowed, rotten roots with my scissors and cleaned them. You can pour cinnamon spice into these cuts. It prevents the growth of bacteria at these points, which we can call the open wound of the plant, and helps it heal as soon as possible.
After cleaning the roots, I removed the dried root pieces in the soil inside the pot. I removed the white stones placed on top of the soil to keep the pot moist after watering. I separated the sandy grains and the large grains from each other. I ventilated this slightly moist bark soil in the sunlight on the balcony.
It is very important for every plant that the soil is getting air. In the gardens, the soil is aerated by anchoring the bottom of the plants. In pots, I usually use a toothpick to fluff the soil at the bottom of the plants so that they aerate.
In the sunlight, I took my soil, which was both dried and microbes broken, from the balcony, and planted my orchid, whose roots were cleaned, flat in the pot.
I did the same for the second orchid. This second one also had buds of purple flowers so I had to be more sensitive. It also had yellowing leaves. I cut them from the bottom too. I ventilated their soil on the balcony again.
By the way, our first guest of the year has arrived again. Dove birds laid eggs in a flower pot on the balcony. They spawned many times in a row last year, so I couldn't water the flower pot so that the birds would not be disturbed. My carnation flowers had faded, just as they were coming to life again, now the birds came again. Now I will share them again in the future.
Let's continue with our orchids, there is not much left. After cutting off the yellowed leaves, small new roots appeared underneath. We can say that these roots, whose fronts are opened, will grow more easily with each irrigation.
Let me briefly explain my irrigation method without punctuating the post. I am irrigating with the immersion method. In other words, I put the transparent perforated flower pot in the white closed flower pot and leave it in water for a maximum of one day. The next day, I take it out of the water and make sure that there is no water left in the transparent pot. Afterwards, I do not water for a long time, which may take up to 1 month.
However, due to the nature of each flower, the location and weather conditions can change the frequency of irrigation. The best decision-making method is by looking at the color of the roots. If his color has turned very light green, he is thirsty. It's enough if we know that. Extremely dehydrated is not a problem, don't think about that part at all. Because, as I said at the beginning of the post, the causes of death are usually due to excessive irrigation.
I think that's enough information for now. Thank you for reading. I hope it was helpful..

Orchid flower care is difficult, if you are not very knowledgeable about it, your flower dies quickly :) as I am. I also had an orchid, and because we didn't take care of it regularly, our line faded. I am really sad
It's actually really easy to care. It's just hard because it's a little different from other flowers.
I'm sorry your orchids are dead. But as I explained above, first of all, taking the sponge from the root will make its life longer. The second thing is that the plant will be dehydrated. These two are the trick. 😇😎
orchid flower color is very beautiful, i will love it if i get, nice way to care for orchid flower. How to cut dead roots will be difficult if you don't pay attention. oh yeah, climate choice will also be difficult
Great job!

Emek istiyor ama çiçeklerinin açtığını görmek çok güzel 😊.
Emeksiz yemek yok.
Zahmetsiz rahmet olmaz.
No pain no gain 😇 bunlar bir takım özlü sözler. Toprak insana sabretmeyi öğretir. Çiçeği yokken bile sabırla ilgi gösterdiğinde, bir sene sonra dediğin gibi o çiçek açınca ortaya çıkan görüntü ise sabrın sonunu 😇
Thanks for sharing. I like orchid. Your post adds my insight about orchid.
