An advice is a recommendation, or a suggestion, or an opinion given by a more matured and knowledgeable individual to another individual who may at that point in time not be knowledgeable or not thinking straight, or who is in a state of confusion or even who might have derailed and needs to be assisted.

It can be a good advice or bad advice. Advice can also come from anyone at all at any point in time either older or younger. What matters is that it serves the purpose.

There are reliable advice sources and non reliable advices sources. A reliable advice source gives good advice whereas the reverse is the case for non reliable advice sources.

The one receiving the advice also has a lot to play in whether the good advice works well or not. If a good advice is given to someone and he or she rejects it, then the advice will not have any effect because it has not been applied. But when a good advice is applied, the power can never be overemphasized.

A good advice can simply turn one into a wise person. There is no two ways about it. Whereas the reverse is the case for one who refuses to take advice. Such a person simply becomes a fool because he or she thinks he is right in his own eyes.

Advice is very important in human life because no one knows it all. That is why we have so many institutions of learning and most of all, the family who is the primary source of advice for everyone because we all come from a home.

One who is well behaved is usually traced back to the family, institutions of learning or circle of friends. It therefore follows that we are made or destroyed by the family we come from, or the institution we belong or the circle of friends we keep.

The public or society do commend one who is well behaved. Such a person is valued and everyone wants to be associated with such a person.

I strongly believe that advice is meant to better the life of the receiver. It is meant to aid one in his decisions and to shape one's life for the better. Hence, advice is undoubtedly very necessary in everyone's life whether we want to accept it or not.

What is the best advice you have received, who gave it to you?

A fool immediately shows his annoyance, But the shrewd man overlooks an insult. (Proverbs 12:16)

If possible, as far as it depends on you, be peaceable with all men. Do not avenge yourselves, beloved, but yield place to the wrath; for it is written: “‘Vengeance is mine; I will repay,’ says Jehovah.” But “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by doing this you will heap fiery coals on his head.” Do not let yourself be conquered by the evil, but keep conquering the evil with the good. (Romans 12:18-21)

The best advice comes from the creator of life who is the Almighty. He has given me a wide range of advice that helps me in everything I do even when I am misunderstood. Most times the advice may not be what I truly want at the moment. But they are surely what I truly need to keep going in this world. It doesn't matter what others may think of me. What matters is that I am valued in the yes of the Almighty.

I have received countless advice from family and friends. I weigh every advice in the balance before I accept them and I make sure they are good ones. I try my best to apply advice that are from a reliable source and that are really meant to bring out the best in me.

The advice on the quotes above are timeless. They foster good relationships and makes me a better person and that is why I treasure them a lot.

I believe that I am not perfect and as such, I accept advice from mature and well meaning friends.

To whom do you regularly turn to for advice?

I turn to Jehovah God in prayer when I need advice. I turn to his word the Bible for reliable guidance.

I regularly attend Christian meetings, Assemblies and religious conventions and I receive advice from them

I turn to my husband for my husband for advice

I turn to my parents in-law for advice

I turn to my Older brothers for advice

I turn to well meaning friends for advice both old and new

I turn to my Doctor

The list goes on and on. The reason is because situations vary and needs for advice vary also. Another reason is that it depends on who is handy at the time such advice is needed. But above them all is the one I receive from God and his word the Bible. They are handy, they are reliable and they are timeless.

Do you like to give or receive advice?

I like to receive advice and I also like to give advice. The truth is that, if an advice worked for me, I do not hold it to myself but to give such to anyone in similar situations.

Receiving advice is a way to demonstrate my humility and giving advice is a way to show my love and goodness to others. They all result in happiness because both giving and receiving brings happiness but giving gives more happiness. But I am careful not to impose my opinion on others especially those who are matured. I simply advice and allow them to make their own decisions whether to apply the advice or not. And I don't feel bad when one rejects my advice because they also have their own rights to what to do or not. But when it comes to my kids, I try to help them see reasons why they should apply the advice I give them especially those that are not against Bible Principles. But when one is stupid, I help them in a way that will assist them come to their senses. Yes, I have been given the authority to do so by virtue of being a parent who knows what is best for the kids in other for them to grow into successful adulthood.

An outsider may not fully understand it even the child may not but in the long run, it becomes evident.

What is the best advice you have received on Steemit, who gave it to you and what has it helped you with?

I have received countless advice here on steemit and most of them came from well meaning friends. Some of them are

• Ignore negative comments on your publications if there is no valid reason to respond. That way, the person will not feel too important

• Focus on improving yourself and assisting others. Read other people's publications to learn and do not fail to assist others.

• Remain focused and avoid distractions from those who seek to bring you down. Be good to all and polite because your good and polite words will always speak for you.

• Be consistent and publish at least, 1 post daily

These have helped me to remain active no matter the matter. If I am misunderstood, the advice I receive helps me to keep calm and only defend myself at the right time when it is obvious that the person has lost her senses. But in all, I am grateful that I have a handful of those who give me advice and their advice has kept me going.
