Assalamu Alaikum friends. Hope you are well and healthy. By the grace of Allah I am also well. So I came to enter the last week of the engagement contest. Our doctor @dexsyluz has arranged a nice topic which is SEC S20W6 || Glóbulos Blancos - Modulo 6. So on this topic I will answer some questions and discuss in detail and try to understand everyone.

⭕ Define White Blood Cells 🩸

White blood cells are an important component of blood that plays an important role in our body's immune system. They are also known as leukocytes. White blood cells mainly protect our body from various types of germs, viruses, bacteria and other harmful substances. Their work is to destroy the pathogens that enter the body and prevent disease.

The white blood cell count can range from 4,000 to 11,000 per microliter of blood under normal conditions. A high white blood cell count can indicate infection or inflammation, while a low white blood cell count can be a sign of a weakened immune system.

There are 5 main types of white blood cells:-

  1. Neutrophils: They fight bacteria and fungi and are the most abundant in the body.

  2. Lymphocytes: These cells fight against viruses and tumor cells.

  3. Monocytes: They enter the tissues from inside the blood or destroy larger organisms.

  4. Eosinophils: They fight against parasites and allergies by destroying the parasites.

  5. Basophils: They play an important role in various inflammatory responses and allergies.

Functions of white blood cells:-

  • Destroying harmful germs, viruses and bacteria in the body.
  • Activating the immune system.
  • Acting on inflammation and allergic reactions.
  • Making antibodies that protect the body from disease in the future.
⭕ Make a diagram of the white series 🩸

I have shown a diagram of the white series step by step within the white page. I drew them myself. I took a notebook, a pencil, an eraser to draw it. Now let's start drawing :-

Step 1 :- At the beginning I drew the structure of white series diagram.

Step 2 :- Then I painted the inner cells light black with a pencil on the shape.

Step 3 :- Then I put small drops on the shaped cells to make it look alive.

Step 4 :- Then I dripped around the cells in the white series.

Step 5 :- Now finally I wrote the names under all the cells of the white series.

⭕ Neutrophilia vs Neutropenia 🩸

Neutrophilia and neutropenia are two opposite conditions of abnormal changes in the number of neutrophils, a special type of white blood cell. So below I have mentioned some of their features.

NeutrophiliaNeutropenia
If the number of neutrophils is more than the normal level, it is called neutrophilia.Neutropenia is when the number of neutrophils is less than normal.
Causes include bacterial infection, inflammation, mental or physical stress, smoking, pregnancy or physical injury, and the effects of certain medications. It can be caused by viral infections, certain medications, autoimmune diseases, bone marrow related problems.
It usually has no distinct symptoms but may have fever or inflammatory symptoms due to infection. It usually has no specific symptoms but increases the risk of infection. Patients become more sensitive.
Elevation of neutrophils may serve as an early signal of inflammation or infection.Neutropenia weakens the body's immune system, which increases the risk of infection.
⭕ Explain a case related to the white series 🩸

White series or white blood cell series refers to the increase, decrease, and differentiation of blood leukocytes or white blood cells. Here's a white series-related case example explained.

  • Case: Chronic neutropenia:-

Patient: Let's assume a 35-year-old woman named Miss Mona Lisa. Who suffers from frequent infections, such as skin inflammation and respiratory problems. He has taken many antibiotics but is unable to fully recover from the infection. Below are some of the observations.

  • Skin boils
  • Frequent respiratory infections
  • Fatigue and weakness
  • Fever and sore throat

The doctor revealed the results of the test to the patient:-

  • CBC report shows less than normal leukocyte or white blood cell count.

  • Neutrophil count less than 1000, which indicates neutropenia (normal ANC is usually above 1500).

Analysis :- In this case, the patient's immune system is weakened due to a decrease in the number of white blood cells. The patient is at risk of infection due to neutropenia. Especially when the number of neutrophils is low, the body fails to develop resistance against bacteria and fungi. So the patient has chronic infection.

🩸 Reason Search 🩸

  • Some medications can cause side effects or autoimmune problems.

  • Neutropenia can occur if there is a problem with the bone marrow or if the bone marrow produces insufficient neutrophils.

  • Viral infections or cancer can also cause neutropenia.

Now the treatment that should be taken urgently:-

  • Preventive measures: Keep the patient away from public gatherings, follow hygiene rules to avoid infection.

  • Medication: Administering special injections or drugs to increase neutrophils.

  • regular follow-up: continuing to monitor the patient's blood and prompt treatment if infection occurs.

This case is an important example of the white series where the immune system is weakened by a deficiency of white blood cells. So last week's topic was excellent. I got different ideas about hemoglobin every week. Special thanks to our doctor @dexsyluz for this. I am very happy to participate in this wonderful engagement contest.

Hello my friend,,
You have provided very useful information in this course. It is important to have knowledge in medical science so that we can take faster action when suffering from diseases, especially those related to anemia.
You have explained well the differences between neutrophilia and neutropenia, including the symptoms and causes of this disease.
What interests me is the way you create the diagram,, it's very detailed and it looks very clear

Thank you very much.
