Denmark: Living, Working & Traveling
Yes, Denmark still pulls me back in every once in a while. I did some calculations and it seems like altogether I've spent about 1 year in this Scandinavian country. All the visits happened in the span of the last 7 years and the first one was back in 2015.
Last summer I ended up in Denmark again. This time, as a Team Leader at the construction company. Our task was to build 10 grain storage silos, in places scattered all around the country.
All that had to be done in a couple of months. Some of my colleagues happened to be curious individuals and there was enough time to do a little bit of random exploration. Conditions were met to seek some adventure so that's what we did every weekend.
After visiting all regions as well as all major settlements in the country at least once, I like to say that Denmark is a never-ending village with only two exceptions: Copenhagen and Aarhus.
It looks like concrete culture failed to spread anywhere else. It is something that I truly love! White or red brick houses with red roofs are something that Denmark has plenty of. All the towns look somewhat similar but have some unique accents too.
If you are like me and prefer a calm atmosphere and silence, Løgstør might be something that you would enjoy. Other keywords that pop up in my mind are Thorsminde, Thyboron, Fredericia, and Skagen. If you want some rural magic, just go wherever you find a road and you will find it.
When it comes to food, I guess unique delicious local dishes are not something Denmark is famous for. As far as I know, many locals that I've met in all those years could live by eating sandwiches three times per day. However, I am sure that those who like eating out will figure something out.
