I wrote this post in two languages. In English and Slovak.

I visited this city thanks to the fact that our friend used to live in it.

We were at a wedding in a village near Ostrava and instead of rushing home after it, we took a small trip around Moravia. We visited Šternberk, Bouzov, which I wrote about in previous posts, and we ended our trip in Hranice na Morave.

We arrive in Hraníce in the early evening. Thanks to GPS, we have no problem hitting right in front of our friend's apartment, who is already impatiently waiting for us.

We put our things together and we go for a walk in the city. Since it is more advanced, we do not have time to go through much. We walk around the square, which is nice and my friend chooses a restaurant where we sit down so we can talk and have some local beer along the way.

The city has been inhabited since the end of the 12th century. Their origin is associated with the name of the Rajhrad Benedictine monk Jurík. The borders were planted on the town in 1276, but not until 1292. During its existence, the town changed owners. It was an economic and administrative center, a prosperous city.

The dominant feature of the square is the baroque church of Happiness of St. John the Baptist, built in the 18th century.

We didn't even see everything from this city. It was not possible due to lack of time. But at least we have a reason to come back here.

Well thank you.

Do Hraníc prichádzame podvečer.

Hranice boli na mesto vysadené v roku 1276, no úplne až v roku 1292. Mesto počas svojej existencie striedalo majiteľov. Bolo hospodárskym a správnym centrom, prosperujúcim mestom.

Dominantou námestia je barokový chrám Šťastia sv. Jána Krstiteľa, postavený v 18. storočí.

Z tohoto mesta sme ani náhodou nevideli všetko. Nedalo sa to, kvôli nedostatku času. Avšak aspoň máme dôvod sa sem vrátiť.

Ďakujem.
