How to Practice Self-Compassion and Be Kind to Yourself

I will like to talk about a very sensitive topic today which I strongly believe that everyone of us is actually guilty of. Everyone of us whether we like it or not, we need self compassion as it will help us to thrive. Our society now is paying much attention on perfection in the aspect of self compassion and even though it is quite easy as it is, for a whole lot of us, it is becoming so difficult and which we must look into it. It is high time I strongly believe we need to pay attention to self compassion.

There are three factors that made up self compassion which I want to talk about. We have the self kindness, the mindfulness and the importance given to the world of humanity. When we talk about self kindness, just as the name implies, it means treating yourself with the right understanding irrespective of what people might want to say about you. Trust me, it is a very important factor that I believe everyone of us should have.

Like I said earlier , self compassion is not as hard as many of us have picture it and I will be explaining it below why I actually say so. There are some steps that I strongly believe we can pay attention to which can help us to practice self compassion on a daily basis. The first is that we should acknowledge our feeling. Whether we like it or not, the fact that we are human beings opens our eyes to see that we have feelings and which we must always acknowledge.

Instead of trying to press down our emotions that might want to come in form of fear, frustration and many more, we should acknowledge it because we are also humans beings also. The second step I believe we can use to practice self compassion is that we should always stop saying negative talks to ourselves. The more you say negative things about yourself, the more it affect yourself. What do I mean by that? Instead of telling yourself "I always fail" tell yourself 'i always succeed " irrespective of the type of situation that you find yourself to.

The other step to self compassion which I will like to talk about is self care and which I believe everyone of us should have time for. We should engage self care that can be either relaxation, it can be watching movies or taking care of our bodies and many more. We should focus much more on things that bring us joy instead of sadness. No matter what, we should not allow anything to affect our joy and that is true.

The last one I will like to talk about which we don't always pay attention to is nobody is perfect. We should always accept our imperfection hut it should come from a point of view that we want to work on those imperfections and not because we are just happy seeing that we are not perfect. Of course we are humans and so we will have flaws and weaknesses but we should not let it hinder or limit us because we can always work upon ourselves. Every setbacks we encounter, instead of been sad, we should see it as a massive opportunity for success and even beyond also.

I will like to round up that sometimes, we should always learn to say no. Not everything we will say yes to because it can affect us negatively. We can set boundaries and be careful on what we should do and what we should not do no matter what. There will always be expectations on you but did not let it put you to pressure. Did not allow what people are saying about you to affect you because it might continue to affect you negatively the more. We should always respect our limits and know what we like and what we dislike. In essence, we should have principles and standards.
