Negli ultimi due giorni si è scatenata una bufera sul progetto Wonderland e sui suoi fondatori principali: Daniele Sesta e 0xSifu.

Cos'è Wonderland

Per chi non lo conoscesse, Wonderland è un progetto Defi nato sulla blockchain di Avalanche il cui obiettivo a lungo termine è quello di diffondere il token TIME come moneta di scambio. Per sostenere il progetto Wonderland e il prezzo di TIME, si è fondato un sistema di "treasury" che non avrebbe dovuto far andare il valore di TIME sotto ad una certa soglia. Gli utenti che vogliono partecipare a questo progetto possono mettere in stake i loro TIME su Wonderland.

Il progetto è molto complesso e sinceramente non sono sicura di averlo capito fino in fondo.
Quello che ho capito è che si tratta di un investimento ad altissimo rischio, e ciò è ben visualizzabile dai documenti ufficiali su Wonderland (link: https://docs.wonderland.money/) che vi invio assolutamente a consultarli se vorrete fare un investimento in questa Defi.

Infatti alla pagina delle Faq è rappresentato chiaramente cosa succede alla piattaforma se tutti gli utenti decidessero di vendere (vedi immagine sottostante)

Detto ciò, andiamo a vedere gli eventi degli ultimi giorni

Il 27 Gennaio è emerso che uno dei gestori della treasury di Wonderland, detto 0xSifu, in realtà nel 2019 è stato il co-fondatore di uno scam (QuadrigaCX) ed è stato inoltre coinvolto e condannato per alcuni reati.

Il tutto è stato diffuso via Twitter dal profilo @zachxbt, il quale ha pubblicato una serie di messaggi che ha scambiato con Daniele Sesta riguardo a 0xSifu e riguardo alla sua perplessità di porlo tra i gestori della treasury di Wonderland visti i precedenti.

1/ Oggi circolano accuse sul nostro membro del team @0xSifu . Voglio che tutti sappiano che ne ero a conoscenza e ho deciso che il passato di un individuo non determina il suo futuro. Ho scelto di valorizzare il tempo che abbiamo trascorso insieme più di ogni altra cosa senza conoscere il suo passato.
2/ Molte persone nel mondo sono giudicate per i loro primi errori, questo è prevalente nella vita degli ex detenuti che non possono avere accesso ai servizi finanziari dopo essere stati criminali.
3/ Uno dei motivi per cui la tecnologia blockchain e DeFi è così potente è che non ha pregiudizi sul tuo passato. Non ho pregiudizi su @0xSifu, lui
è diventato un amico e parte della mia famiglia e se la mia reputazione di giudizio sarà colpita dal suo Dox, che sia. Tutte le rane (partecipanti alla frog nation) per me sono uguali.
4/ Come combatto per lui, combatterò per chiunque altro abbia dimostrato di essere un buon soggetto nonostante il passato. Continuo a guardare avanti verso il futuro piuttosto che cristallizzarmi indietro. Spero che lo facciate anche voi.

In questa dichiarazione, il fondatore di Wonderland ha ribadito il fatto di essere venuto a conoscenza del passato di 0xSifu da un mese, e che comunque ha continuato a dargli fiducia sulla base del suo lavoro presente e non sulla base di quello che aveva fatto in passato, anche a rischio di compromettere la sua reputazione stessa.

Ovviamente la comunità di Wonderland si è fortemente divisa e ha partecipato alla votazione indetta da Sesta di estromettere Sifu dalla tesoreria di Wonderland decidendo di estrometterlo:

Infine Sesta ha ribadito in un tweet che i fondi di Wonderland sono al sicuro e protetti da un meccanismo di multi-firma.

Considerazioni personali

Da un lato ammiro Sesta che a detta sua ha cercato di non farsi influenzare dal passato di una persona cercando solo di guardare alla professionalità dimostrata, dall'altro reputo che da parte sua non sia stato trasparente fino in fondo con la sua comunità. Nel momento in cui ha saputo del passato di 0xSifu, forse avrebbe dovuto lui per primo rendere partecipe la sua comunità di questo fatto, in modo da non perdere di credibilità lui stesso e di non far perdere di credibilità i suoi progetti.

Quello che sarà lo vedremo. Se Sesta dimostrerà ancora di meritare fiducia nei suoi progetti, probabilmente si risolleverà da questo "scivolone".
Solo il tempo e i fatti ce lo diranno.

Over the last two days, a storm has broken out over the Wonderland project and its main founders: Daniele Sesta and 0xSifu.

What is Wonderland

For those who don't know, Wonderland is a Defi project born on the Avalanche blockchain whose long-term goal is to spread the TIME token as an exchange currency. In order to support the Wonderland project and the price of TIME, a "treasury" system was established that would not let the value of TIME go below a certain threshold. Users who want to participate in this project can stake their TIME on Wonderland.

The project is very complex and to be honest I'm not sure I fully understand it.
What I have understood is that it is a high risk investment, and this is well shown by the official documents on Wonderland (link: https://docs.wonderland.money/) that I absolutely send you to consult if you want to make an investment in this Defi.

In fact to the page of the Faq it is clearly represented what happens to the platform if all the users would decide to sell (see image below)

That said, let's look at the events of the last few days

On 27 January, it emerged that one of Wonderland's treasury managers, called 0xSifu, was actually the co-founder of a scam (QuadrigaCX) in 2019 and was also involved and convicted of some crimes.

The whole thing was spread via Twitter by the @zachxbt profile, who posted a series of messages he exchanged with Daniele Sesta about 0xSifu and about his perplexity to place him among Wonderland's treasury managers given his track record.

The whole incident was summed up by Sesta in the statement available at this link: https://mirror.xyz/0x8A7f7C5b556B1298a74c0e89df46Eba117A2F6c1/Laraxx5dW-07hvHS-ff8TgnS4etd67SbM05Li1Am1ag. In this statement, the founder of Wonderland reiterated the fact that he had only known about 0xSifu's past for a month, and that he still trusted him on the basis of his present work and not on the basis of what he had done in the past, even at the risk of compromising his own reputation.

Obviously the Wonderland community was strongly divided and participated in the vote called by Sesta to oust Sifu from the Wonderland treasury by deciding to oust him:

Finally, Sesta reiterated in a tweet that Wonderland's funds are safe and protected by a multi-signature mechanism.

Personal considerations

On the one hand, I admire Sesta who, according to him, has tried not to be influenced by a person's past and has only looked at the professionalism he has shown, but on the other hand, I think he has not been completely transparent with his community. When he learned of 0xSifu's past, perhaps he should have been the first to make his community aware of this fact, so that he wouldn't lose credibility in his projects.

We shall see what will be. If Sesta still proves that he deserves confidence in his projects, he will probably recover from this "slip".
Only time and facts will tell.
