🏆 My TOP Series I've watched in 2024! What did you watch?

in WORLD OF XPILAR6 days ago (edited)

Well well well, 2024 is almost over, it's been a "weird" year in so many ways and it felt like it passed so much faster compared to previous years.
During this holiday I found myself eager to start a new TV series to binge, I went to Netflix, Max, Disney to take a peek at the front page where all the big new names should have an ad. While scrolling to names and watching banners I came with this idea.

I am going to post the series I enjoyed this year so other can take a look and who knows maybe someone will recommend his series down in the comment section.

I want to start this by mentioning that I am a fan of Sci-fi series but somehow the number one on the list for 2024 isn't a Sci-fi. The first spot is taken by Shogun.

👑 Shogun

Shogun is not only the best series I've watched in 2024 but one of the best all-time. The series is an adaptation of a book and follows the story of an English sailor that arrives almost dead in Japan. Also Hiroyuki Sanada one of the main actors has a great role here, I've seen him in many movies over the years but in this one it's the exact role where you'd imagine someone like him.

More details about it can be found on IMDb, like each episode's grading, description and more details.

Currently it has only one season, as far as I understand the chances of a second one are pretty small, 10 episodes easy to binge this holiday!

🧟 FROM

Well you probably heard about FROM before, the internet exploded with clips and theories about it a couple of months ago when the last season aired. I watched the first two seasons 1-2 months before the 3rd one came out, it caught me pretty fast, watched 2 seasons in a weekend.

TikTok, Youtube shorts and Instagram were full of memes related to the fallen tree in the series, that's why you probably heard about it, if you haven't tried it now is the time.

More details about it on IMDb.

🛢️ Silo

Third on the list we have Silo, a Sci-fi series by Apple TV and presents the story of men and women living in Silos underground because the outside air is toxic. I like how Apple pours money into production and every now and then come with something amazing, not like Netflix who needs to create 100 shit series before getting something decent out.

On IMDb you can find more details.

👊 Reacher

The 4th option on the list is Reacher, this year we got a new season, the second one. If you are looking for something funny, packed with action this is a great choice. This one is also an adaptation of a book, each season being a different volume. The main actor Alan Ritchson didn't have a big role, or not one that I remember, this one does justice.

More details on IMDb.

Other honorable mentions

🦹‍♂️ The Boys

In The Boys follows the atrocities done by super heroes in their run to save people, the main protagonists are a group of people created to follow and kill these super heroes. The series is packed with action, blood, fighting, something rarely seen this extended in entertainment.

🚂 Snowpiercer

After a world war with nukes all the surviving people are now living on a 1000 wagons long train. There was a movie about this many years ago, this follows the story in depth. The first seasons were great, the last one was OK-ish.

IMDb for further details.

Solo Leveling

And last on the list is Solo Leveling, didn't mention any anime yet, I haven't watched that many lately but this one was pretty nice, found it by mistake while scrolling on TikTok. As the name suggests, the story follows the main character that gets some sort of power which allows him to level up and increase his stats by fighting monsters. Everyone lives in a world where dungeons are spawned and hunters (skilled people) need to go inside and clear them before they break into the outside world.

And now, until I find something else to watched, I've laid my eyes on The Penguin series, something in the Batman universe as I understood.

Now if you watched any of the series mentioned above, how was it for you? Did you enjoy it? Was it bad? And if you were to recommend another series which one would it be?

I've seen a few of them...

I thought that Reacher was brilliant. I've read most of the books so it was nice to see them cast the beast of Alan Ritchson, rather than a midget (Tom Cruise).

I enjoyed Shogun and it was one that you definitely want to continue!

I've only watched one episode of "From" and it wasn't for me. Maybe if I'd have stuck with it, then I must have gotten sucked in but I guess that's not really my genre as much as anything else.

What did you think of the Boys? For me, the 3rd season lost some of the gloss that 1 and 2 had. I can't help but laugh when Butcher drops the C-bomb 😆

I've not seen the rest - Silo sounds a lot like Fallout which was fairly good too if you haven't seen it.

I really enjoyed "Person of Interest". Not this year, but something I watched 6 or 7 years ago. My innter geek enjoyed it too.

I guess FROM is either you like it or you don't.

3rd season of The Boys was still decent, I lost it in the 4th season when they added animal supes going crazy.

I saw the first episode of the Fallout didn't continue after, maybe at one point I'll continue it, Silo feels much better, feels like the premium version of fallout.

Haven't seen Person of Interest yet, I heard of it before, it looks like the grading on IMDb is pretty high.
