The King is Watching

The King is Watching is a roguelite kingdom builder. Defend your castle against ever-challenging waves of enemies. Prioritise production and army training, and make your people prosper under your constant gaze!

Now let's talk about the game and gameplay. When you see the gameplay for the first time you might tell yourself that it looks pretty easy but the idea behind the game is pretty unique and makes it 10 times harder.

You can see the 4x4 tiles on the left side of the game, on these tiles you are allowed to place different structures that produce/trade/recruit/heal/upgrade different things. Each structure having a different price.

You act as the King in this game and your main task is to supervise your peasants, on the tiles specified above you can see a stroke on some of the squares, that's how much the king can see. You can move and rotate that stroke around the tiles and only the workers in these will work. Over the gameplay I managed to upgrade it a little and increase it's size, doing that over time allows you to increase production/recruitment/healing and so on.

This was my first and only run in the game so far, and I think I did a big mistake by placing the same building two times and not only did I do that for one of them, I did it for 2 or 3. And as the game advanced I could place new buildings anymore. Now that I think of this I don't remember trying to put a new building over an old one, maybe there is a replace happening if I try it.

The time flies pretty fast in the game, and every few weeks you get a wave of enemies that attack your castle, there is a timer that tells you "Next wave in X weeks".

There is also a powerup that for a set amount of seconds you get double the resources, but you pay gold to use it, you can't spam it as you might need gold for something else.

As your warriors fight and lose health you have a hospital, as long as the King is watching it, you get a small portion of heal to your army. Also you get only 4 slots when you first start the game, you need to make sure you upgrade it and get more slots, in my case I got to 10.

In my case with everything I did, I survived until week 201, week 201 is not far from the first BOSS, I think after that the game increases the difficulty.

I will try a couple more runs and see if I can get much further.
