This was a project I had been looking forward to for a long time, ever since I saw a video of the artist García Villarán with his students. I wanted to try to make my own watercolor artist's books. In the video you can see the result.



Right now I am scanning the four books to be able to show them in detail, with high resolution. I hope to be able to share them in future publications as well.

Artist's books are not art books, but books created as works of art by themselves. In this sense, the book format acts as another artistic support, and the artist can use any kind of medium to create it: painting, drawing, collage, sculpture or photography. It is a unique and interesting way of creating art.

Artist's books often blur the boundaries between literature and art. And also between the different plastic arts, since the book format/support allows to play, at the same time, with two and three dimensions, and even with the fourth, time, if you turn the pages or go back through them. In this way, the spatio-temporal sequence is added to the plastic discourse.

An artist's book is usually a one-of-a-kind or limited edition, serialized work. They often explore specific themes and ideas, or express the artist's personal thoughts in a more creative and intimate way. The possibilities are vast and, with a little imagination, the results can be impressive.

Este era un proyecto al que le tenía ganas desde hace tiempo, desde que vi un vídeo del artista García Villarán con sus alumnos. Quería probar a hacer mis propios libros de artista a la acuarela. En este vídeo os muestro el resultado.



Ahora mismo estoy escaneando los cuatro libros para poder mostrarlos en detalla, con alta resolución, a través de otros vídeos. Espero poder compartirlos próximas publicaciones.



Los libros de artista no son libros de arte, sino libros creados como obras de arte en sí mismos. En este sentido, el formato de libro actúa como un soporte artístico más, y el artista puede utilizar cualquier tipo de medio para crearlo: pintura, dibujo, collage, escultura o fotografía. Se trata de una forma única e interesante de crear arte.

A menudo, los libros de artista difuminan los límites entre la literatura y el arte. Y también entre las diversas artes plásticas, ya que el formato/soporte de libro permite jugar, al mismo tiempo, con las dos y las tres dimensiones, y hasta con la cuarta, el tiempo, si se pasan las páginas o se retrocede por ellas. De este modo, se añade la secuencia espacio-temporal al discurso plástico.

El libro de artista suele ser una obra única o de edición limitada y seriada. A menudo exploran temas e ideas específicos, o expresan pensamientos personales del artista de una manera más creativa e íntima. Las posibilidades son enormes y, con un poco de imaginación, los resultados pueden llegan a ser impresionantes.
