Illustration - The sixteenth chapter of Genesis.

Greetings friends.

Let me introduce you to my next drawing, which, in my opinion can become an illustration for the sixteenth chapter of the Book of Genesis which is the first book of the Old Testament of the Bible.

I envy people who when reading chapters from the bible understand everything from the first reading, but, fortunately I don’t know such people as a rule, you need to read each chapter several times in order to get a grain of what God wanted to make the main and useful for you.

The sixteenth chapter reminded me of the story of Adam and Eve when Eve was a little disobedient and tasted the first forbidden fruit.

Sarah Abraham's wife, was old but she heard God's promise from Abraham that many descendants would come from her and Abraham but so far they had no children yet.

Sarah did as she saw fit and gave Abraham her servant Hagar so that she would conceive a child and give offspring to Abraham.

A strange decision it is similar to the panic and hopelessness that lived in Sarah's heart.

When Hagar became pregnant she became too arrogant and Sarah ordered her to be punished for it.

Fearing the wrath of Sarah Hagar fled into the wilderness and stopped near a water source where an angel met her and ordered her to return back to Sarah and obey her.

I have depicted such a picture in my drawing.

I have not met angels but as the Bible says about the time before the Flood angels descended from heaven and took human daughters as their wives and as a result of such marriages giants were born therefore I think that an angel should look larger than an ordinary person.

The angel descended from heaven and I think he was interested in touching the solid earth which he kneads in his hand.

Hagar walked for a long time and most likely she should have looked very tired so I wanted to portray her in this picture.

As always the picture will come out gradually starting with a sketch and lineup of characters.

I drew the sketch with a pencil with a graphite stiffness rod H.

I made further work with softer pencils I mean the softness of the lead namely: 2=BH, B, 2B.

Sometimes it seemed to me that the work on the texture of the stones would never end, but gradually I saw the approach of victory, lol.

The next chapter of the book of Genesis is even more difficult to understand in terms of how to depict it, but I hope that understanding of this will come to me but for now I am glad that my folder has replenished with another illustration to the Bible.
