On the edge - Weighed, counted and declared unfit.steemCreated with Sketch.

in WORLD OF XPILARlast year

Sometimes, life on the edge, for some people, looks like hopelessness, voluntary seclusion, not realizing that a person can be happy with his family, get involved in what he loves, and he becomes indifferent to the city noise and bustle.

You know, watching videos about people moving from the city to the countryside have long been my favorite topics to watch.

These people have some kind of inexplicable, but very great strength, and this strength lies in their happiness, which they find, receiving everything they need from life, as the fruit of their own hands.

All the same, it’s good that, sometimes, in our life there are upheavals that allow us to look at the world with different eyes.

Weighed, counted and declared unfit, sometimes, this is the moment when a sailor is written off to shore, or denied employment because of the "age" column on your resume.

Probably, this is familiar to many.

This can be sad and turn you into an old sailor who has seen a lot in his life, but who has not become fast enough to cope with his duties on the ship and is left on the shore.

If you convince yourself that the sea is all there is to your life, then you will spend the rest of your days sitting on the pier with your parrot friend, watching the ships come in and out of the harbor.

But, this is what I would call a defeat, yes, a dry loss, without trying to build your own ship and set sail from the shore.

This is the case when your past is like the shackles that bound you, but the past can also be a starting point, for example, remembering your hobbies, pick up a pencil and start drawing, I tried to do this, I am not pleased with the prospect of communicating with a parrot, which, looking at your sadness, will turn into a boring, sad bird.

I enjoyed working on 22 x 22 cm paper in my daughter's sketchbook.

Graphite pencils, erasers and a sharpener, that's what I needed for the job.

The work began with the layout of the general picture and sketch.

Probably the most difficult thing was to imagine the face of a parrot. looking at that angle.

Yes, to clarify, all the characters and elements of the picture, like all my previous drawings, are fictional, except for the slug, which, according to the terms of the competition, I had to draw based on a photograph taken by me.

When the overall picture became clear to me, I set about the texture and tone of the elements of the picture.

Gradually. I came to an internal consensus, but I do not exclude the possibility that over time, I will want to work on this picture more.

I was pleased to work on coated paper, but there is one drawback, it is not very dense and the graphite layer deforms it a little.

No, it's not the warping of the paper, it's the weight of the graphite that deflects part of the paper when I want to photograph it.

I had to hold the top of the page with a clothespin and hold the bottom corner of the page with my finger to be able to photograph the drawing.

This results in me having to crop a bit of the image to get the edges right for posting, but I'll try to come up with something in the future.

Greetings friend, what you express is very interesting and you are right. 👍
We can look beyond a single space, and thus obtain other things.

That drawing was fantastic on you, and worthy of a cover. Thank you for sharing your talent with all of us.

You should work in storyboarding, or concept art. Your compositions are stunning.

Thank you! This is an interesting option for the future.

Good job. I'm nominating your post for a contest. #wox-bestartpick
