WOX: Why I Choose This Community

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago

After posting several entries on Steemit, I was ready to leave. No comments, almost no upvotes, nobody noticed me. A moderator of one of the communities commented with a copy-pasted message: "Congratulations, your post has been selected..." He didn't upvote the post, neither left a simple human "nice" in the comments. It was like a wall between me and others.

Then, I was discovered by WoX guys @mister-omortson, @bambuka, and @stef1. My post got upvotes and many comments. They invited me to join a program for newbies, delegated Steems and explained how to be a part of Steemit.

My experience proves that WoX is not like those communities who talk about openness and equality but actually don't want strangers, other nationals. WoX is welcoming to anybody who wants to become a part of the community and is ready to follow the rules.

After a while on Steemit, I decided I must have shared this place with those of my friends who are active as content creators on social media. One of them, @petface agreed. I told her: start in WoX, this is the best place on Steemit. She began and, soon, to my pleasure, was detected by @bambuka's radars and invited to join his "14 Days Diving Program" for newbies. Since that time, she is with us.

For me, WoX is an international English-speaking community focused on photography and art but is not limited to it.

This community is the best choice for photographers. The photo/art contest leaders are not random people but skilled creatives fit being judges. @axeman's photo&art contests attract the best photographers and artists on Steemit. @mister-omortson's contests are engaging and often inspire me to write stories for WoX. @sultan-aceh is a great macro photographer, he leads contests too.

A lot of work is done by @stef1 who doesn't miss a single good post and support the best works. In case you really like somebody's entry, you can suggest it to @xpilar and he may upvote it - just follow the rules. @stef1 and @xpilar regularly communicate to members of the community about the life of WoX and Steemit so people can participate in WoX not only as content creators but also as community citizens.

There are other moderators and activities on WoX but I have described only my ways in WoX.

World of Xpilar is like a colourful online magazine about photography, art, nature, travelling, life. With a living community. With a friendly team that is cordial to those who want to become a part of the community. The best community on Steemit. Would be a mistake to leave WoX without support @steemcurator01.

Thank you ever so much @datych for being my WOX ambassador! I do by the way remember seeing your wild berries and mushrooms photo whilst reading my copy of the National Geographic UK last autumn. I felt really excited and proud of you. I also do love this photo myself as it's rustic and authentic. It simply takes you there, somewhere up north, in the woods. Other than your photography you share here in WOX, I also value your witty comments across the community. You like to get to the bottom of things, read, research and that's why I am always interested in what else you have to say really!

National Geographic UK

:) Yes, thank you for this finding, a really good one for my collection.

I want to get more. But I caught a cold :( Don't think this is covid. But still I must skip much time right at the moment when mushrooms thrive - we got a good portion of rains at last (very hot and extremely dry summer).

I am always interested in what else you have to say

:) I am a good listener too. I can listen to someone for hours, only shortly asking questions even I know answers because I want to know the teller's point of view.

Oh Dear.. I do hope that it isn’t Covid and you @datych will get better very soon 🔜

Your mushroom 🍄 and berry photos make me want to visit St Petersburg so we can go foraging together!

The English summer here this year though was the very opposite, rainy ☔️ with temperatures between 15 and 18 degrees (other than few days long heatwave!).

Feel not bad, like someone who is almost well... 🙂 Still keep myself in the warm conditions, no walks, no meetings.

I hope once. 😎 You are always welcome.

Probably, too much water in the ocean clouds - the hot weather... So they spilled all on the way from the Atlantic to Russia. Like a beer drinker with too much beer in the stomach, the same principle... This is my theory ... 🙂

It’s good to know that you’re recovering ❤️‍🩹 @datych! It’s a shame indeed to miss on being out and about while it’s still summer..It already started getting dark earlier, I bet you noticed ☝️and Christmas 🎄 started being mentioned more often. Time flies and it’s all fine as long as we are safe and not feeling under the weather!

On a separate note 📝 I do like the cute emojis you included in your reply to my comment 💁‍♀️

Yes, emojis. Probably, your influence on me 🙂

Summer and cute autumn ... Then ... a dark abyss.

Thought 💭 so about the emojis @datych so I’m glad you said it! I think they are fun and add some colourful highlights to the text. Like makeup 🎨Best not to have too much of☝️

There are two explanations actually.

--1--

Normally, we write in Russian using ")" to show friendliness and moderate smile. Like:

Hey) How was you your day? )

Using more brackets )), ))), )))))) shows smiles and laughter.

I read Westerners and Asians and etc don't understand it, only ex-Soviet nations. So I started to use ":)" instead. But this is totally different meaning.

Hey :) How was you your day? :)

This one is annoying already in most cases. It is like I am high or want to sell something. This especially uncomfortable on steemit bc extra smiles sound like begging.

Emojis are clearer than brackets like ) or :---) and ;) and ^).

--2--

But what about typing without emojis and smiles at all? Talking to different social layers of different nations makes communication more complicated. As soon as you are away from small talks like "the weather is fine" and "your images are nice", people have troubles with understanding, understanding the context.

Too many cases when people didn't understand that I was kidding or was sarcastic or I meant "it was obvious". Nothing is obvious when you talk to an old guy living 20000km away and believing in woodoo. So use a banner "sarcasm" when you are sarcastic this is why I decided to use emojis.

When I meet open-minded experienced travelers with liberal ideas I have no communication troubles of this type. Steemit is different.
