Steemit Success: Why Your Content MATTERS... Even After the 7-Day Payout Period!

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago (edited)

I am writing this post as a little bit of a follow-up to my post about "Evergreen Content" from a few days ago... there were a few more ideas to share, but I didn't want the original post to get too long!

7 Days and... Do NOT "Forget About it!"

Around here, it's easy to fall into the mindset that our content "doesn't really matter," once a week has passed since its publication.

It's a totally forgivable assumption to make... once the rewards for a post have funded, you're done, right?

But not so fast!

We have an interesting dichotomy here: Consider that we are talking about posts that pay out in one week and those posts are stored on the blockchain, which is touted as being immutable and will supposedly go on forever.

As a 25-year blogger and content creator, I'm here to tell you that one of the best things you can do for yourself — to build your own personal success — is to treat all your content like it's going to be around forever!"

We might like to think that we're primarily here and participating in this community because we get rewarded, but that doesn't mean that we shouldn't also focus our attention on making the most of building "Brand YOU."

One of the things I've noticed is that — as the years go by — more and more there are examples of content created right here on Steemit that will show up in general Google or Bing search results... Particularly if the search was somehow related to crypto/blockchain issues.

The thing to keep in mind here is that there is "value" that extends far beyond that initial seven-day window.

There is "value" in someone finding information in an article published on Steemit, no matter when it was published! There is value because it brings them here!

Two distinct benefits actually happen when an article created in our community shows up in searches — even long after the payout has happened.

Likely, someone will arrive here and be curious about this venue and that might lead to them creating an account and becoming content creators, themselves! Second, you could benefit... because even though the post that was in the search results was old, a curious person is likely to look at your profile to see what you have published RECENTLY.

And so, you might end up with a new follower, and that does have value! And that's more likely to happen if you paid attention and did your best with your posts in the beginning, even knowing that there would be no financial reward after a week.

I should know, because I am actually an example of this very thing!

Nobody recommended Steemit to me; I didn't see any ads anywhere and there was no sales pitch from a friend. Nobody promised me that I could "make money blogging."

I ended up here because I was looking at information about various Universal Basic Income projects and one of the articles on the topic happened to be published on Steemit. When I landed here in January 2017, I had NO IDEA that Steemit even existed, and I was NOT looking to make money blogging...

And yet, here we are, 4 1/2 years later!

Just something to think about...

Thanks for reading, and have a great remainder of your week!

How about YOU? How did YOU find Steemit? Have you ever done a web search for something, and found there to be Steemit content in the search results? Are you aware that what you post here will — technically speaking — be on the web for as long as the blockchain remains alive? Do leave a comment — share your experiences — be part of the conversation!

Hi!

It's nice to see you... again... and again...
Really I'm happy to see you and read your posts.

Initailly, I read about Steemit and Golos in some article on June 15th 2017. In some sort of article about on how to earn money in internet.

And guess what? I created my #Steemit account after 5 minutes and posted my 1st "Hello world" post here.

It was a long time ago, but after 4 years I still here on Steemit.

I am a member of a Facebook group " Holiday against Hand" and its founder invited me here. Because I do on Facebook exactly what I have been doing here since May: report on things that seem important to me and share photos. And here there is a financial incentive for that. In addition, and this is my personal added value: you break out of your own filter bubble, which on other platforms usually deals with other opinions in a very strict and exclusionary way. Here you can - for my impression - discuss very openly and appreciatively with everyone...

I support your point of view. A blogging platform thrives from quality of it's content, and a person will be recognized for the quality of his thoughts while writing a post. Establishing oneself as a blogger might take some time. But, in the end, if the intention is good and one focuses on producing quality content, he/she will get there. And talking about a blockchain like Steem, the content will always be available for people to see, hence all the more reason to maintain quality while writing posts.

I'm new here on Steemit and found this to be a great read. I think its important to always do your best so thank you for these notes to keep in mind :)
