Little Joys

"It's a tough life and it's the little things that get us through the day."
- Jeffery Deaver

My last two blogs were depressing. For some, the face is the mirror of the soul, and then there are some people whose written words reflect their emotional state, too. I didn't know, I was incapable of putting a veil over my raw words and would let my guard down so easily. I guess this happens to those who always write their minds and try to be authentic.

Anyhoo, after 3 weeks of a depressive atmosphere at home, I was finally able to genuinely smile and felt hope that things would get better soon. If not entirely better, at least manageable.

I will dedicate this blog to all the little things in life that happened this week and made me feel life is still colourful - I just have to walk away from the grayscale and explore some hues.

My little one turned 4 on Thursday. He had been impatiently waiting for his Big Day for weeks. Reminding us to give him presents, get him a Superman cake and balloons.

My parents came all the way from another city to celebrate with us. I couldn't be anymore happier to see them. (Do I sound like Ross?) And guess who else graced the day with her special appearance?

No idea?

It was Milky...

I met her after 2 months and she's all grown up and chubbier. It took her a while to acquaint herself with the new environment. She took her time to explore and scrutinize every corner of the home and later perched herself like a queen on the top bunk which was supposed to be the shelter of my elder one as he's a little scared of her.

...

She was soon comfortable with new faces (which weren't new, actually - I don't know how a cat's memory or brain works). It wasn't long before she wanted to sneak out into the open. We had to be extra vigilant because she runs like a leopard once in the open. It's hard to bring her back.

The day wasn't winding down slow. I had to be there for a welcome event in the community's ladies' club. It was a pleasant evening with friends. A breath of fresh air in my otherwise monotonous routine. I'm too lazy when it comes to dressing up but sometimes it feels great to put on your best clothes and add a little colour to your lips and cheeks.

The night was still young when I rejoined my family over dinner and a little birthday celebration for my son.

I don't know what he was blowing because I still had to put the candles on the cake. Speaking of cake, thankfully he agreed on a simple chocolate cake. The only cake guy in our remote setting doesn't take designer cake orders and he's against using too many food colours.

This was my son's first birthday without a luxury cake and I think he enjoyed it the most as he had no concept and memory of earlier birthdays.

Themed cakes cost us a lot of money. This year, we couldn't get those for both our sons and they didn't create a fuss about it. Hoping to set better trends in the family.

The next day brought good news for which we have been waiting for months - a bigger home. In another blog, I talked about how I wasn't thrilled about my current residence. It was high time that we move to a bigger space since my mother-in-law has also moved in with us because of her dire health.

It's a lot of hassle to change accommodation even when our new home is just around the corner. But every sweat, inconvenience, and exhaustion is worth that big space. There's some maintenance work that needs to be done before we move in. My next blog might be all about 'the move' and how I set up the new place.

Stay tuned.

A black-gilled mushroom surprised us the other day

I'm gonna miss our front lawn though. We transformed it into a green idyll from a barren piece of land.

There's a white button too. I don't know if it has white gills and if it's poisonous or edible. I had to resist picking it up and putting it in my omelet.

I'm a little offended. Where's the picture of the duo... At ladies club...

Lol

Jokes aside, enjoy the pleasant change. May everything gets a little easier every day... And you know you can always come to my place to unwind :)

Haha. I was posing awkwardly.

Thank you. I know I can always count on you.

I enjoyed your daily routines. I saw the expression of the cat. I hereby wish you a very happy birthday. Best of luck to you my friend.🥰

Happy Birthday to Mahad! And Milky is a very beautiful and unique cat. I love that pink nose and her beautiful blue eyes.

Purr-fect ! Thanks for the treat, purr-ator.

That cat is so pretty!
