🐱 Muffin is Here!

Do you remember the tale of Meeno and Muffin? Recalling and penning down the bittersweet story of Meeno somehow opened up my heart for a new kitty, Muffin. I mentioned it last time that it's my brother's cat and he was trying to give it away due to a couple of reasons. However, he couldn't find a suitable owner and brought her to our parents' home, after an extensive road trip of 12 hours.

The cat didn't like the long journey. It was fine at first but being in a confined place for hours and fresh air at pit stops meant going out in flaming high temperatures, made her woozy.

Everyone was eager to welcome her especially my dad because he was meeting her for the first time.

And then the doorbell rang...

Three pairs of footsteps ran towards the door and there she was sitting all scared and whimpering in the corner of her basket, held by my brother.

He immediately released her and she ran inside the home, made a quick round, inspecting every room. Then she settled down at the spread laid out in her honour.

My parents welcomed her like they would welcome any of their kids or esteemed guests. Fresh water, milk and some chicken was laid out in the air-conditioned room even before she arrived.

She seemed to like the new home and new faces. My dad who's a cat-lover and who lost Meeno ages ago, was thrilled to have a new cat.

Dad likes to pet cats and Muffin also likes to be petted - the duo were in total bliss.

Things were different with Meeno because she was a street cat who regulary visited our home but Muffin is the first trained/official pet. The plan was to give her away once she's in the hometown but my dad has refused. He wants to keep her.

He's old and retired; for him, Muffin is like a new toy that keeps him busy.

As for me, I have come to stay with parents for a couple of days. I'm surprised but I like this new addition in the family. She's a well-behaved kitten that doesn't scare me, only when she's being extra playful and suddenly comes in my feet out of thin air.

My kids are over the moon. The elder one is like me, pets her but maintains his distance. The younger one wants to hug her all the time. He's always hovering over her; she loves this extra affection but sometimes gently pushes him off when he gets extra clingy.

Muffin has two more names now - Milky and Maano. Although she doesn't respond to any of these, she runs towards the slightest of sounds.

The other day, I was shocked to see her acting like a dog. She was sticking her tongue out and making playful noises. My brother told me that she grew up with a pup. Apparently, it's nothing to worry about, she only does that when she's being playful. I don't know what's the word for it - "blepping?"

I'm having cat-full holidays. It's not that bad. Good, actually. (:

My kids want to bring her to our home. To which I haven't agreed. The reason of my reluctancy is, I'm not a pet person, I love this kitty but I can't take care of her like my dad does. So, we'll keep visiting her and maybe she will visit us too. (:

Actually I read about this just yesterday. I skimmed through it earlier but gave it a good read last night. In fact I was about to ask you if advertising on steemit helped your brother find a new home for muffin. Lol

Please don't let my kids see it....
They are begging for it for so long. I may agree, but their dad would never. He is only a sheep person. End of story!

Good for your dad. I would also not want to part with her...

She is very cute though. And your younger one is totally vibing with her. A super cute duo ❤️

Advertising on Steemit didn't help. I did find an interesting family but by that time my dad already called dibs on her. 😅

It was difficult for my brother to part with her. He's gone now but he video calls her every day. 😅 He couldn't have done that if she were at someone else's place and he's at peace with the thought that he will get to see her after every few months.

Animals complement us, brighten our lives. I love animals, but I prefer them to live in the yard. I don't like wool in the house. But it seems that soon I will have to give up under the pressure of Darinka😄

I prefer them to live in the yard.

Same pinch. But right now I find myself looking out for her or calling her out every few minutes when I don't see her. I like it when she sits with me. But then it's not my home. I wonder if I'd have behaved the same if she were at my place. 🤔

soon I will have to give up under the pressure of Darinka😄

I feel the same. You will have to give in. 😛

I am a regular visitor of your blogs. Your blogs are so funny and interesting. the Muffin's story is very touching😘😘. I'm glad to see that your dad took to her immediately and loved taking care of her. Your children's happiness 😍and love are also very sweet😍. Even if you don't consider yourself a pet owner, spending time with Muffin and seeing him in your parent's house is a beautiful experience. It is a good decision to let her stay with her father and visit him occasionally. Muffins bring joy to your life.

One thing I was never a fan of was having pets inside the house. Particularly, cats. And before I get any hate for it, it's not like I hate cats, I just don't like any sort of animals inside the house.

Fast forward years later, today I am living in a house with 2 cats and safe to say, we are all living in peace lol. Even though I still don't let them enter my room, but I have gotten used to them being around me now.

You're lucky we only have 2 left now

You have precisely written my views and life with animals.
