My Theatrical Three-nager

in WORLD OF XPILAR24 days ago

I was thinking of writing about the grim issue of forest fires in Pakistan. Inspiration came from my husband, who recently did some heavy firefighting in the mountains.

Instead, I am now contemplating whether to throw the whole cushion in the washing machine or just wash the dirty corner. The prior inspiration went down the drain with the running water as I scrubbed the corner where my 3-year-old peed.

I hope you are not surprised at the 90-degree shift in the topic. Mothers are allowed to do so, right? My kids are at this stage where most of my day revolves around them, tending to their needs. Well, the elder one is 7 now and slowly becoming self-reliant in many things. It's the younger one who keeps me on my toes.

I couldn't toilet-train him last year because we were in the nomadic phase of life, mostly traveling and living in guest rooms, and when we got settled, winters arrived, which was not the right time for this training.

Summers are at their peak now; it's high time that I get over with this daunting task. Can I confess, I don't want to be involved in it and want him to miraculously learn it by himself? (innocent wishes)

Motherhood is difficult. From pregnancy to birth and then upbringing - each phase comes with its challenges. The first month after delivery and toilet training have to be the toughest for me.

I find the latter so exhausting. You have to constantly monitor their expressions, the time of the previous shift and beg them to go to the loo all the time to avoid any accidents. I'm not high maintenance but I get easily annoyed with poor maintenance. Mostly because I want everything maintained all the time but I Iack the strength to do so on my own which frustrates me.

Sometimes, I don't give a damn and there are times, I will stay awake at night because my mind won't stop wandering to the dirty laundry or dirty vegetable box in the refrigerator. This reminds me, after publishing this post, I have to move the whole cooking range to pick up the strainer that fell behind.

I always say, brains are funny little things.

Coming back to my actual rant, this morning, I forgot to remind him just one time and we had multiple wet items. I had to keep my cool because the scolding don't do any good to him as then he demands to wear a diaper.

Kids these days... (sigh)

Sometimes, I feel like I am burdening him with a lot of things at once. He has started going to a Montessori preschool this year. Although it's mostly activity-based learning, he has to follow a routine which he happily followed in the first two weeks, and then... He plainly refused to go.

The peaceful mornings at home turned chaotic. Mostly, I gave in to his wishes and let him stay at home, and 2 or 3 times I just picked him up and handed him to the school staff. Once in school, he is a happy little boy. He only makes school drop-offs difficult for us.

I don't know how I am going to deal with him after the summer vacation. Once a day, he reminds me that he doesn't love school, especially at bedtime, making sure that I don't wake him up in the morning.

My elder one is the most sensbile and a decent kid and the younger one is a walking theatre. What do you do with a highly opinionated threenager?

I'm sorry if this rant of a post wasn't upto your expectations. Everyone is allowed to blow some steam now and then.

Monica geller making up excuses for her high maintenance nature in a different way:p

Ma sha Allah cutie babies, i am already missing winters after seeing their winter clothes😭

P.S: i am flattered by the patience of the momies always.

I'm in no way like Monica Gellar. She was another level. I agree that I suffer from monicattacks but that's rare.

That picture in warm clothes is from last month. 😉
