RE: Upcycling Furniture

I didn't know what you were talking about and ended up reading multiple threads regarding the recent scam. I had heard about the corruption of josepha but I thought simonnwigwe was a decent user. 🥲

I have noticed, Steemit team is all forgiving for some time now which can be one of the reasons for increasing abuse. Leave the downvotes, I often get surprised to see proven scammers getting support (e.g shabbir86). Getting easy on the rules is one thing which is well-received by the community but supporting scammers is incomprehensible to me. They possibly mean well and want a positive atmosphere. It's even hard to keep track of the foul players too. There could be a thousand reasons but nothing justifies supporting them.

I enjoyed giving 15 (on average) bigger votes in my recent curatorial ventures. It's either nothing or a substantial coconut, just not a peanut. It feels more satisfying that way than supporting dozens of below average blogs.

I got bored of curation, but A Team, without question, anytime. It will bring some excitement to my steem activities. We should have a comeback and (I agree) with the aim to fight abuse as well.

We should thank @the-gorilla for introducing us. 🙂

shabbir86. That's another kick in the gut. He should be dead and buried. I have highlighted my pervious discovery to one of his larger voters.

It crossed my mind this morning to teach a Learning Challenge. Or just write a load of posts about how to catch scammers. Share some of my methods so that everybody can use them. Including the bad guys 😔

Don't you think the bad guys can get better at being bad through such posts?

It's inevitable. Some of them have pretty much mastered it now anyway. I simply don't have the time or energy to spend days investigating them any more... especially if they are able to return to their duties at some point in the future. That simonnwigwe one took me days. shabbir86 took me an entire day too.

steemcleaners would've put them on a list where they would have received downvotes until the end of time.

I understand, all the effort is futile.

Isn't there any auto downvote tool?

It could be automated but it would need coding. remlaps auto-downvotes everything that I downvote and justyy has a downvote trail tat people follow.

We say in reply to o1eh's post that some people are just scared to downvote as they fear retribution. It's easy for me not to be afraid as I don't post much so I guess others have more to lose.

A trail is not a substitute but it is something. More users could follow your trail. However, Oleh is right too, downvotes can quickly turn into an ugly war which could end up being unfair to innocent people who put real effort to get few rewards but wish to see an abuse-free environment. We need something more unanimous or universal like steemcleaners as you said.

I wonder what happened to Abuse Watcher? I still see it sometimes but from the beginning I couldn't believe fully in its authenticity. I'm not sure why.

The Steem Watchers is still going. They've got quite an extensive blacklist that they downvote but it's all low-level petty crime. It might just be that I've never noticed it but I see very little in the way of booming abuse or steemcurator accounts being investigated - unless it's a follow-up post for something I've looked into.

Definitely!
Even the "Set-#burnsteem25-for-an-autovote"-strategy Oleh noted as an example in his post is copied already by people who never used that hashtag... 🤮

It's either nothing or a substantial coconut, just not a peanut. It feels more satisfying that way than supporting dozens of below average blogs.

This is exactly what I have always thought, felt and done (even with my private account). There are just fewer and fewer coconuts. If you find one outside the territory, everyone pounces on it... 😉

Nah, I don't think I want to look for single coconuts in the huge dung heap anymore. It stinks so bad there...
But staying in your own circle all the time also gets smelly at some point...
Well, when the gorilla shows up with his insane help and should give me/us the honour... 😂

This is exactly what I have always thought, felt and done

And I always admire you (and a handful of other users) for that. I believe the pressure of maintaining a certain voting CSI caused users to give smaller votes but in a wider range (talking about private accounts). It started as a rule which has now become more of a habit.

Sometimes, I wonder if all the orcas (and all sizes of fish, for that matter) start giving votes fairly and a little more generously, then authors might not look up to 01 or 02 that much and instead focus on increasing their readership by focusing on quality and real engagement.

I definitely think you're right with your idea.
However, as I have been trying unsuccessfully for years to act as a role model in this respect, I believe that users will only realise this when 01 and 02 withdraw completely from the business... 🤷‍♀️

Nobody would/should want them to withdraw completely. Removing guaranteed votes for projects would make things slightly better, as already discussed under o1eh's post.
