RE: How much Green is too much Green?
These pictures are of the place from where I bought the plants. The last collage is of my place.
These turnips are fresh from my garden though. I have never like this veggie but these home-grown ones tasted delicious.
My mom is also against plastic ones. She told me to replace those when she visited. She says plants thrive in the clay ones. I intend to replace but not right now. I'm also not going to eat anything from the plastic pots.
Carrots in the pot? How many?
One of my favorite winter salads is shredded turnip and carrots, with sunflower seeds, lemon juice and olive oil :)
My pot is 25 cm diameter, I've put something like 20 seeds, the half of them grew. The best part is they grow ok indoors, no bees needed to pollinate, for instance our lemon trees are indoors for the winter and they are blooming at the moment, unfortunately, so no lemons this summer, most probably.

Sounds yumm! I will definitely try this salad recipe.
I didn't know carrots could grow indoors. Our lemon tree is also blooming. I think I have picked around 7-8 kilos of lemons this month.
Olives go well in that salad as well ;)
Yes and I can't grow carrots outdoors, too many moles in the yard, don't know why and I don't want to kill them. Everything I tried to grow undergrounds, just disappears :|
Our two lemon trees are potted, winters are freezing here and we move them out and in each year, also have to trim them small so they are healthy. Not more than 1 meter height. Harvests are 20-30 lemons tops, if at all.
Just to add that in the years during and past covid, we started to grow much more things in the garden and in the pots and I already could tell if a fruit has grown in a clay or plastic pot. Those carrots are so sweet... Your mom is so right about it, send her my bests! :)

Sure I will.
We have grown all edible stuff directly in the ground of our backyard. Pots are only for decorative purposes. 😀
Most of our neighbors have greenhouses and I guess I'll have to invest in one of those too at some point.
Food in the big stores doesn't get any healthier, unfortunately. Also, more and more expensive each month.
