A DAY OUT IN THE CRATER LAKES

The beautiful day started with such smile on my face yesterday. I was assigned to drive and go check the tracks since it's a daily routine here in the Kyambura wildlife game reserve and I came across such views of the crater lake and the park itself. This reserve is located along the Kazinga channel in Queen Elizabeth national park and is gifted with vast numbers of wildlife and birds.

Here comes a little singing cutie called the long toed lapwing captured singing in the end marshlands of lake George. These birds lay their eggs and hatch on the floating vegetation or close to water and both parents defend the breeding areas. They are always seen jumping over hippos in mud to get some insects, invertebrates the hippo is turning up. The Kazinga channel is a dominant feature of the park and is the perfect site to spot bathing elephants.

These elephants were trumpeting before coming to the channel and I had guests on boat who had wished to see them in water. It was spectacular for both of us seeing them play around. They exit and minimize high temperature using their big ears by flapping forward and backwards and come down to bathe to suffocate parasites on their skin like the ticks. A look of the channel with the sky is beautiful differently each day.
