RE: Mineral Spring Water with Lime for Instant Refreshment 🍋‍🟩🍹

I can't speak specifically about Mexico, but this concern seems to apply to many 'third-world' and 'developing' countries. I can relate because I’m from a similar country, Pakistan. A lot of people are worried about traveling solo, especially as women in Pakistan.

The main culprit here is the media. If you tune into networks like Fox News, all you hear and read about are random bombings, thefts, abductions, etc., in other countries. But when you visit these places, the reality is often very different. We have SO many solo female travelers in Pakistan that it's astonishing.

A very good friend of mine, Claire, who’s from the U.S., visited Pakistan last year, and she never left. She fell in love—both with the country and its people. She’s now married and living a peaceful, happy life in Chitral, Pakistan. Being a travel enthusiast and staying up-to-date with this community, I've met lots of foreign solo travelers, especially from Europe.

In November, another friend of mine from Poland will be visiting Pakistan. I’ll host her in Karachi and then, hopefully, join her for the rest of the trip up north.

We really need to disregard what the media portrays. I know this comment was originally about Mexico, but I resonated with it as a Pakistani. :')

Any personal information is important, regardless of the location. The key here is the word "information". You are right about the media, they are focused on bad accidents, disasters and death. If a person reads them constantly, he will not want to leave the house. I think that's the case with Mexico travel as well. Some places are also deliberately "vilified" as well, for one reason or another. But I happened to join a community of backpackers traveling in Europe. At first I thought they were Spaniards, then it turned out they were Latin Americans, and they recounted every day various mishaps in their travels in the large cities of Western Europe, warning everyone to be very careful, because crime is very high, also increased due to the constant flow of illegal immigrants with dubious backgrounds. This is very interesting - seeing how people from other continents perceive the continent you live in is always very interesting.🙃

Indeed. One cannot get to know the reality untill he faces it himself. Where are you from?

I am from Bulgaria. This is not Western, but Eastern Europe. But even though it's the poorest country in the EU, given what I've read about big western cities, I can't judge the level of crime here anymore. Maybe because we don't have that many illegal immigrants. They are not stupid. 😂No one wants to stay long in a doomed country like this.
