Saudade, bronze sculpture by Beto Gatti
Hi friends!
I would like to share with you a captivating work of art exhibited at Galeão Airport in Rio de Janeiro. I discovered it on my way home after a delightful stay in Búzios, Brazil.
This sculpture is by Beto Gatti, a young Brazilian sculptor and photographer renowned for his innovative approach to contemporary art which prompts us to reflect on our relationship with technology in today's world.
This bronze sculpture, titled "Saudade," is part of "The Origin" series. It explores the importance of being connected to the virtual world while also highlighting the potential harm it can cause. The piece portrays two primates embracing, yet each is engrossed in their mobile phones, offering us an interesting commentary on modern life.
The impact of this work is that at first glance they appear to be two human beings hugging and then you discover from their faces that they are primates.
