Memories and Impression, Driving from Scotland to England

in WORLD OF XPILAR9 days ago

Before everything else, let me put you at ease here.

I did not take those photographs while driving myself!

The road from Scotland to England is a long one, few hundred miles so I was taking terms driving.

This, actually, was my very first time driving a car that has the steering wheel at the wrong side of the car (meaning the right). Hahaha, I know, I know, 1/3 of the world drivers will not agree with me, but in Europe, with a few exceptions, the car has their steering wheels at the left part of the car.

Those exceptions in Europe are all the countries from the UK, Malta and partly, Gibraltar, am I missing any?

So in the first minutes the driving was a bit stressful for me, but then the three decades of driving experience kicked in and it was easy-peasy!

Driving that route, even when using highways only, is quite pleasant for the eyes.
The green hills and pastures of Scotland, present almost everywhere!

(Of course, I tried a local cheese!) :)

The services, for those who don't know, are the places where the travelers could stretch their legs, use the restrooms, refuel the cars, do some shopping, etc.

My feeling was there are less services in Scotland but still, they are quite enough and are placed at convenient distance from each other.

Green fields and green energy. Pretty!

I was actually quite impressed to see there are so many electric vehicles.

In the UK, it is quite easy to spot them, as they all have a small green rectangle, taking the most left0hand side of the license plates.

Not sure this image below is big enough but you may see the green part of the plate on that blue BMW.

I counted the EVs for some time and I'd say that each 7th or 8th car was electric!

My feeling was there were not enough electric recharging stations at the services.
Our car was a hybrid and we didn't manage to see free slot to put it in charge while we were taking some rest.

Not this car isn't EV but it is so beautiful, right ;)

Spreading their long hands:

Now I will let you decide for yourself what this sign means! :)

Now those are some beautiful homes but I wouldn't imagine the noise from the highway they have to suffer every night.

DDH_5802.jpg

Some really interesting stuff could be seen. I've seen many and sometimes I didn't have the time to react and grab my camera and take a photo.

This one, someone, who I guess is deeply into camping had added a whole small house to their Toyota Hilux. That in terms brough this unorthodox solution of the cargo problem as well :)

Well, I guess I will have to continue the story...

While traveling, one really sees extremely interesting things that cannot be seen at rest. For example, some amazing cars that just fly past you and you would never see them again. Or the objects that are visible from the highway, but there is also no way to even stop to photograph them, so you must always be ready. I do this with the phone sometimes because I can't handle the camera when I need to take a quick picture, but it's often quite frustrating anyway.😃
P.S. I had to google this "hard shoulder". OMG, this language 🤦

True, so very true :)))

If it's hard, it can't be bad, right? :D

Я так и не понял, кто делал эти фотографии))
Сам я часто снимаю во время вождения, это вошло уже в привычку. Понимаю, это плохая привычка. Но ничего не могу с собой поделать ))

Oh, come one, of course I took them! :))) I wouldn't post someone else's photos without mentioning it and I rarely find a reason to use such photos as I have plenty already :D
Now, triple reading my post, I misused a word and it should read "turns", not "terms".

I was taking terms driving

I am actually quite a disciplined driver, I don't generally use any device while driving unless it's critical. Last time we went to see an archeological site at about 100km, three cars endangered us and all their drivers have been using phones at the time. I have to install a car registrator, finally.

I hear in some Russian cities it is obligatory to have such installed in all the cars?

I did not take those photographs while driving myself!

You're right, I could've used better wording. Something like "I didn't take those photos behind the steering wheel" or "taken while I was a shotgun" (American-English phrase only, I think)

Fast speed, small aperture for deeper depth of field, manual focus... Very thoughtful, it is indeed better that way!

Телефоном я практически не пользуюсь. Сам редко кому звоню и мне почти никто не звонит.

I think Covid has something to do with this. I was definitely placing and receiving more calls before it began...

До ковида я тоже был не сторонник общения по телефону. Может быть я просто социопад :))
Может быть это происходит с возрастом ... :)

Maybe a combination of all those. I am also a bit of an introvert so that one too...
