MY HANDS
My thin, slender hands,
As white as spring water,
Resemble pale roses spilled
From the lap of an Eastern princess.
Hands of a nymph, a fairy, a seer,
Poor little hands wrapped in silks,
Dead virgins enshrouded in light
By the golden hands of the setting sun.
Thin and white... They were made this way...
Hands of the rejected because you reject me...
How sweet they are! So much to my liking!
Why do I need them - God! - Why do I need them?!
Oh my hands, where is heaven?
