YOUTH
The splendid, vibrant youth,
Ardent, extraordinary, audacious.
That sees a rose’s leaf in a thistle,
A diamond’s sparkle in a drop of water;
This youth that made me a Wandering Jew
Of the spirit, a copious torrent,
A tempestuous sister of the gales,
I carry it within me, red, triumphant!
In my blood, rubies run scattered:
Flames rising high in my verses,
Poppies blooming on my lips!
Love me madly, bewilderingly,
My Love! for the human heart
Is so small... and life, water slipping away...
