The night leaned over us...
My soul kneels, puts its hands together, and prays!
The moonlight, over the hills at this hour,
Is like water from a pitcher that spilled...
I don't know who spread so many pearls!
Someone murmurs through the ravines...
Field flowers, humble, even now,
The night, with gentle eyes, closed them...
Smoke kissing the thatched roofs of cottages...
Idyllic serenity of fountains,
And the voice of nightingales in the willows...
Tranquility... calm... nightfall...
In ecstasy, I listen over the hills
To the heart of the stones beating...
