Hi everyone! 😊

As I said in a preceding post, I wanted to make an entire post about my experience of this Inktober 2022.

Objectives

This year, I wanted to participate in each day of the challenge. And that's it. I didn't have more precise objective, because I know that the only choice of doing every day involved a lot a time and energy.

Last year, I did almost one drawing per 2 days. And I remembered that it was despite difficult to keep the rhythm. Because it asks to free up time in our daily lives, and to keep this all day along during one month.
I think it is a very good exercise, not only just for drawing, but for the rest ; especially as I am the kind of person who finds it difficult to keep an habit and being consistent.

So, I am very proud to say that I met my objective!!
I've done all day of the Inktober.

My material

hfrgjgfj.jpg For the paper, I used a Daler Rowney block of paper.
It was very comfortable for tracing with pens, because of its smooth texture.
Sans titre-1.jpg For the pens, I choose the Staedler ones, and I think it's a common choice for artists who draw with pens ; they are pretty nice to use, and we have a good range of thickness.

For painting surfaces, I buy Faber Castell ink brushes, which are available in various shades.

Even I liked to work with them, I had a problem with the tones of them ; the brightest one was okay (however, it wore out very quickly...) but as you can see on the photo above, the tone after the brightest is suddenly much darker. I would have liked to have had an intermediary between the two, while the following tone is almost the same...

My favourites of my entries

0.jpgI think that my favourite one is for the word "Armadillo". I was in my comfort zone as I draw it in a realistic way.
In a more general way, I like all of my entries which have the same technique : such as the eagle for example.

I draw in a realistic way since I was 13 years old, and it's in this way that I feel comfortable.
Imagine a whole scene without model looks like a very difficult exercise to me.

So, I try to find references that help me to keep coherent and realistic despite of my imagined world. You will maybe tell me that it's normal and everyone needs references or inspiration to create new things, but I saw so often artists that made crazy roughs without any support that I became self-conscious about it 😂

But I think that I didn't have to be too hard with me, any normal person needs a reference to draw a squirrel, until he draws so many squirrel that he remembers a way to paint it alone without references. (But there are some person which are able to draw everything with only an amazing memory, such as Jung Gi Kim)

My least favourites of my entries

In general, the drawings that I like the least is the ones who contain humans ; because I really don't like to draw human bodies (you can see that I draw mostly animals 😅)
I need to work a lot before mastering the drawing of the human body, now I used to draw them in a very limp manner.
Maybe some of you will say that it is a kind of cartoon style and that is okay, but for my part I didn't like it, and the problem is that I have this style because I cannot do something else 😂

Conclusion

As I succeed to follow my objectives, I want to give me some post-inktober objectives.
Yes, now I can produce one drawing per day. But what is more interesting will be to produce better drawings. For that, I need to practice the drawing of human body, but also perspective.

Indeed, in some of my entries, I had some problem to find the correct view, and they are in general flat, I lack depth and interesting framing proposals. (But I clearly didn't have the time to dare to do anything too complicated in this daily context)

Thank you for reading me, if you have participated in this challenge, don't hesitate to leave me your own opinion and experience.
Also, don't hesitate to tell me which of my entries you preferred, maybe I will be surprised by your choice 😄

Have a nice day and see you soon for others creations! 😊
