Today I show you a portrait that I made of Eddy Lamarr. She was one of the greatest movie actresses of all time, but not only, she was also a brilliant inventor.

At the beginning of World War II, she and avant-garde composer George Antheil developed a radio guidance system for Allied torpedoes that used spread spectrum and frequency hopping technology to defeat the threat of jamming by the Axis powers.

I choosed, for this drawing, to use the pointillism technique.
I expected that it would take a lot of time, but surprisingly it doesn't take me so much. That is for sure because I didn't had enough courage to draw the entire hair with dots lol.
But, it wasn't only by laziness, it is also because I wanted to give contrast and big dark values on my drawing.
So, for the hairs, I paint it with a dark ink brush.

Process

I start by making a sketch with pencil. The first attempt makes me think of Scarlett Johansson, didn't it ?😄

After finishing my sketch, I start to do dots, more and more to simulate shadows (the more numerous and closer the dots, the stronger the shadow illusion)

And so, I finished by painting the hair with the black ink brush.
I also add more details with dots.

I really liked to use this technique. I am always trying and exploring in art, I'm very curious to discover new ways to paint, and new tools to use.
