Hi everyone!

I'm happy to participate in this contest, I was so close to not being able to do it, because I was so busy with Christmas preparations.

By the way... Merry christmas to all of the community! 😊

But I find some time, between gift wrapping and preparing zakouskis, to do this drawing.

As the theme was year-end festivities in my region, I represented Namur, a little pretty city in Belgium.
The city is really beautiful with its citadel, and with the light they bring to it.
I also thought about the fireworks that are sometimes projected there. All this makes for a very beautiful setting.

Process

As I wanted to paint a night landscape, I wanted to use a black paper.
And, for making some lights reflexions, I wanted to use pastels.
But, the only black paper I had under my hand was pretty cheap, and not suitable for pastels.

So... I try do do my best with the lack of both time and good material 😅

After making a little sketch, I put the major colors.

Then I try to put light into it.
But... It was so difficult. I couldn't get a bright pastel, all looks bland on this paper.
So it was little disappointing for me, because I didn't expect this result, as I wanted to give a luminous rendering at the end.

So at the end I add the fireworks.
(And yes, after finish it, I wondered why I had done this framing, and not left more space for the fireworks 😅)
