Trip to beautiful Porto-Novi in Montenegro

in WORLD OF XPILAR8 months ago

My personal favorite and most beautiful place in Montenegro is Porto-Novi. Montenegro, nestled in the heart of the Balkans, boasts not only breathtaking landscapes but also hidden gems waiting to be discovered. Among these treasures lies Porto Novo, a quaint coastal town tucked away along the Adriatic Sea. Porto Novo, with its rich history, vibrant culture, and stunning vistas, offers visitors an unforgettable experience.

This beautiful picture awakens something indescribable in me. When I saw this strange building covered with beautiful flowers and grass, I was in awe. I have never seen anything like that before and it is very interesting that they thought of such a good idea to decorate the beautiful square of Porto-Novi.

I was very glad because the whole place was filled with nature. Although there are very modern parts of the city, they still managed to leave an impression of history and older parts, considering that all of this was recently renovated. Porto Novo's history dates back centuries, with traces of ancient civilizations intertwined with its modern-day charm. The town's strategic location made it a hub for trade and commerce in the region, leaving behind a tapestry of influences from various cultures. Walking through its cobblestone streets, one can marvel at the architecture that reflects this diverse heritage, from Venetian-style buildings to Ottoman-era structures.

Porto Novo boasts natural beauty that leaves visitors spellbound. The azure waters of the Adriatic Sea beckon sun-seekers and water enthusiasts alike, while the rugged coastline offers breathtaking vistas at every turn. Adventurers can explore hidden coves, hike along scenic trails, or simply bask in the Mediterranean sun on pristine beaches.

The monument to fallen seaplane pilots of the Third Seaplane Command was erected in 1939. This is the oldest aviation monument in the territory of the former Yugoslavia. On this memorial sign are the names of 28 hydropilots, scouts and mechanics of the Third Seaplane Command of the Naval Aviation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in Kumbor who died in service. The third seaplane command was the strongest part of the Yugoslav navy. Due to the fact that Boka Kotorska was the first base in world history that used seaplanes for war purposes, the Austro-Hungarian Navy built a base in Kumbor in 1914. The company Azmont Investments carried out the restoration and cleaning of the monument with special attention, respect and precision, placing it in Hillside Park and thereby marking the historical importance of this special place.

In addition to its charm, Porto Novo offers a peaceful retreat from the hustle and bustle of modern life. The slow pace of the town invites visitors to unwind and savor the simple pleasures of coastal living. Whether enjoying a leisurely stroll along the waterfront promenade or watching the sunset paint the sky in hues of orange and pink, Porto Novo inspires a sense of tranquility and serenity.

I especially liked this sculpture that was in the fountain because it was special in its own way. It is very unique that they made the water form a wing shape. I couldn't resist taking a picture of this and sharing it with you guys.

“St.Nedjelja” Church is first mentioned in historical archives in 1634. This picturesque church is believed to have been dedicated to St. Nedjelja, a saint who was worshipped in many parts of Boka Bay. Its original construction can be brought into the connection with the Venetian conquest of the Kumbor fortress Vrbanj in 1580 to which the people of Perast made a significant contribution. Original church was extended west around 1704, and on that occasion its interior was painted by the most famous Baroque painter from this area Tripo Kokolja. The belongs to the Dioecesis Catharensis of Kotor.

In conclusion, Porto Novo stands as a testament to Montenegro's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty. From its storied past to its vibrant present, this hidden gem along the Adriatic coast captures the hearts of all who venture to its shores. Whether seeking adventure, relaxation, or a deeper connection to history and culture, Porto Novo offers an unforgettable experience that lingers long after departure.
