Turkiye Earthquake Donation Final Report
Hi Dear Friends, I want to express my heartfelt thanks for your support and generosity in response to the recent earthquake in Turkiye. Your donations have been invaluable in helping us provide aid to those affected by this devastating disaster.
Thanks to your contributions, we were able to collect a total of 4137 Turkish Lira (₺) (430 STEEM + 1746 TRX). With this money, We tried to be able to contribute in the lives of those affected by the earthquake.
Initially, my plan was to donate the funds to reputable associations working in the earthquake area. However, I decided to take a more hands-on approach and personally deliver aid to the earthquake victims. My decision to donate first hand is based on my desire to make a direct and immediate impact on the lives of those affected by the earthquake. I wanted to ensure that the aid reached the people who needed it the most as quickly as possible.
1. Shopping for the aid truck going from the Disaster Aid Collection Center of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality to the Earthquake area. (3736₺)
2. Donation for high-protein bread and baby biscuits for Earthquake area (Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Halk) Ekmek (400₺)
The aid collection area of the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality continues to actively collect aid and send it to the earthquake zones since the day of the earthquake. Trucks are constantly going from this center to the earthquake zone. So I called the municipality's "ALO 153" line and asked for the current needs list. I shopped for these needs. I will share my shopping in detail below. I am also attaching the invoices.
I delivered the products I bought to the disaster relief center and they attached the invoices to the documents. I will share it below.
In the phone call I made, they stated that the urgent needs are generally hygiene materials, materials that protect from the cold, food and toys for children. The products I bought: Women's/men's thermal underwear, underpants, singlets, sanitary pads, nail clippers, toothpaste, basic food products, toys for children and a set of crayons.

After spending 3736.75₺ of 4000₺ (2959.75 + 777) in shopping, 263₺ remained for baby biscuits and breads so I made a donation by completing 263₺ for 400₺. Thus, the total donation amount was 4137₺. I have attached the video about this donation, but since the video is in Turkish, I would like to add an explanation.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Halk Ekmek produces high-protein bread and baby biscuits containing walnuts, hazelnuts and grapes called "golden muffin" with high nutritional value, special to the earthquake region. And these products are only sent to earthquake zones. In this process, when there is a shortage of food, I transferred some of the donation here.
I will talk about the products I bought. I bought a total of 10 thermal underwear that retains the heat, 5 for women and 5 for men. The price of one is 64.95₺.
The products I bought contain different sizes. I bought 8 packs of women's panties. There are 3 in a pack. The price of 1 package varies between 29.5₺, 39₺ and 45.75₺. I bought 8 packs of men's boxers and there are 2 boxers in one pack. Package price is 54.25₺. I bought 10 female athletes. The price of an athlete is 34.25₺.
I bought 25 sanitary pads in total, 2 types. Since people mostly stay in tents, there is a great need for hygienic materials. The package price of one of the pads is 36.5₺ and the other is 8.5₺. I bought 5 nail clippers. 14.95₺ each.
I bought 6 packs of toothpaste. The price of one is 23.95₺. I bought 3 of the toy cars that turned into robots. 19.95₺ each. I bought 5 crayon sets for 8.95₺ each.
I bought 6 of the canned beans for 19.95₺ each. I bought 3 of the double tuna fish for 39.95₺ each.
I bought 8 jar olives, each of which is 21.96₺ (500g). I bought 1 box of spaghetti for 7.70₺ each. There are 20 packets of spaghetti in a box.
I bought 10 packs of green lentils for 27₺, 5 packs of red lentils for 22₺ and 20 packs of bulgur for 15.5₺ per pack.
After placing all the products in the trunk of the car, I went to the disaster relief center.
Those who worked there immediately came to help. They brought the wheelbarrows and we all put them in the wheelbarrows.

They attached my invoices to the document prepared by the municipality. I took the picture with permission.
I am truly grateful for your contributions and for the opportunity to work together for those affected by this tragedy. I hope that this update on the donations we made with your contributions gives you a sense of the impact that we were able to make together.
There is great solidarity in this center. Employees are mostly volunteers. After delivering the packages, I went to the aid parcel preparation section to help.
This is a huge area and trucks are coming and loading here. I would like to share with you a photo of the duct tape I was working on. These were hygiene boxes. The box was coming and everyone is responsible for one product and when the duct tape comes in front of us, we place it. There are children, old people, young people, everyone who comes to help as a family here.

Dear @serap I was pretty sure that you have such great organisational skills and seeing your report that makes me very proud to you there and for the wise collection. Like you I often think it is good to give the contribution for the big organisation but often for example in Germany we see that the people at end stage of the chain sometimes do not receive it due to bureaucracy.
I like those thermal clothes, thinking about the weather condition nowadays it is still cold and people often have no heating and in tents that is really good idea.
Living in such condition hygienic items are essential and it is never enough of them. The food that your chose is very thoughtful.
I appreciate your photos with display of all the stuff that you were able to buy but also for the bills.

I completely agree with your point about the challenges that can arise with bureaucracy. That's why I was particularly focused on selecting items that would be practical and useful for people in need. I am glad to hear that you found the photos and bills helpful. It is hard to imagine what calamity has befallen your country. However, I can certainly imagine how this disaster mobilized all the good people. A year ago, I also bought food for people fleeing the fighting. And I did it too, thanks to donations from my Steemit friends. This platform can do wonders. Unfortunately, all I could do for you is support the post. I did not donate STEEM. Now we in Ukraine are in a difficult situation.
