Excursion along the path of "La Font del Verger" // Excursión por el camino de "La Font del Verger"🌳🍊🌿

Last Friday, 8th December, national holidays, we went out for lunch and an excursion. The 8th of December is the day when the house is traditionally decorated with Christmas decorations, with varying degrees of success. Since part of the family is not in the mood for this, it was decided to go out and explore the island.

On the road that leads to Es Cubells, in the municipality of Sant Josep, is the path of "La font des Verger", a leafy walk along which runs a stream.

There are no rivers on Ibiza, but it is common to find fountains and springs.

At the beginning of the path there is a small stone house, which seems to be a farmhouse, with a tree, perhaps an almond tree that seems to emerge from the roof of the house. //

El viernes pasado 8 de Diciembre, día de fiesta nacional, salimos a comer y de excursión. El 8 de Diciembre es el día en el que tradicionalmente, se decora la casa con más o menos acierto, con adornos navideños. Como una parte del núcleo familiar no está por estos menesteres, se decidió salir a explorar por la isla.

Por la carretera que conduce a Es Cubells, en el municipio de Sant Josep, se encuentra el camino de "La font des Verger", un frondoso paseo por el que discurre un torrente.

En Ibiza no hay ríos, pero es frecuente encontrar fuentes y manantiales.

Al principio del camino hay una casita de piedra, que parece ser una caseta de aperos de labranza, con un árbol, quizá un almendro que parece que emerge del tejado de la caseta.

. On the other side of the path we saw a structure called a sluice, which is used to regulate the flow of water //

Al otro lado del camino vimos una estructura llamada esclusa, que se hace servir para regular el paso del agua.

. The landscape looked like it was drawn by a small child, look at the poorly made fence made of sticks. //

. There are several points where the water gushes out, which is collected in small reservoirs called "safareigs". The water also flows through irrigation channels. //

Son varios los puntos por donde brota el agua, que es recogida en pequeños embalses llamados "safareigs". También el agua circula por acequias.

. At a water valve, this old number plate caught my attention, perhaps it fulfils a function for which it was not created, which is to keep the valve open or closed. //

Me llamó la atención esta vieja placa de matrícula junto a una llave de paso, quizá cumple una función para la cual no fue diseñada, que es mantener la llave de paso abierta o cerrada.

. Along the way there were many orange trees, here we can see Xavi contemplating the water gushing out after having tasted one of the citrus fruits.

Myself next to an orange tree full of fruit and an old water trough in disuse //

En el camino habían muchos naranjos, aquí vemos a Xavi contemplando el agua que brotaba tras haber probado uno de los cítricos.

Yo misma al lado de un naranjo repleto de fruta y un viejo abrevadero en desuso.

. The surprise of the excursion was when we saw this quartet of white geese, I approached very carefully to photograph them up close without scaring them, but apparently they are used to humans. //

La sorpresa de la excursión fue cuando vimos este cuarteto de gansos blancos, me fui acercando con mucho cuidado para fotografiarlos de cerca sin que se asustasen, pero por lo visto están acostumbrados a los humanos.

. Swimming happily in a "safareig" // Nadando felices en un safareig.

.The male, the most sociable one, approached us and allowed me to photograph him very closely, I even took some video. He could be called "Atticus", I think the name suits him very well //

El macho, el más sociable, se acercó a nosotros y permitió que lo fotografiase muy de cerca, incluso grabé algún vídeo. Podría llamarse "Atticus", creo que le sienta muy bien el nombre.

. I hope to go back and see Atticus and his colleagues and that they didn't end up in the oven on the 24th of December.
