Corner of Dreams

Day 1

Husband: So… what about the corner? Any ideas?

Me: (smiling) Starting again with the garden corner question, huh? Well, are you thinking?

Husband: Hmm… That's your job. You are the designer.

Me: As if...

Day 2

Husband: What should this corner look like?"

Me: It should look like you want it to. Lol!

Husband: ... (Only the eye roll)

Day 3

Husband: Any updates on my corner?

Me: Already? (chuckling) You’re dedicated! I’m still dreaming it up in my mind.

Husband: Well, maybe you should try it out with that AI image thing you do – a sneak peek, you know?

You: That’s actually a good idea. I’ll see if I can visualize our - wait - actually your, ideas that way.
(Another eye roll)

Day 4

Husband: So… any images yet?

Me : (playfully sighing) Impatient much? Yes, I think I’ve got enough ideas to create something. I’ll make a quick AI sketch for you.

This ⬆️ is the image I had generated through AI because I knew from day one what he wanted, what resources we had, and the requirements of the space. I was just letting him plead a bit. Hihi. No, no, it's nothing like that. Maybe it was just a shortage of time, or perhaps I was hoping to find a design that could fit within our resources.

And looking at this image, he was almost happy, because it was exactly what he had in mind. See, I can read minds too! ;) Anyway, the next question was: where will we find all these stones... We already had some aloe vera and a few other plants. But, as they say, 'where there’s a will, there’s a way,' or something like that... So today, our corner is finally ready. And my husband—well, he’s so delighted that he says, 'I just feel like sitting here and admiring it all day!'

He actually sent the kids out multiple times to visit his corner and come back with praises—which, of course, they dutifully did! He asked me to do so to, and I said: Who gave you the picture????

Take a look at this: Make a comparison between our finished corner and corner by the AI image generated from my genius prompt.

Amazing? Isn't it???

And then he got so happy that he started finishing all the other pending tasks today as well. He had some help too, but he was right there alongside, doing everything with so much enthusiasm. It was a day full of gardening work. Well, not exactly gardening, more like the nitty-gritty of setting up a garden: straightening the rows, fixing the alignment, deciding which plants to keep and which to remove, all the little details to make it feel like ours.

I know I’m just rambling, but you probably already know what I mean. So, here’s a quick recap: we’re the new residents in this old house, here for a while before we eventually pass it on to the next occupants. No, no, it won’t be a random handover; it will be officially assigned. It’s part of my husband’s role, but we’ll definitely leave our mark here, so that anyone who steps into this garden in the future will feel the traces of the care and effort we’ve put into it.

It’s funny because knowing we’re here temporarily only makes us want to create something lasting even more.

The helper who came today mentioned that he has been associated with this house for 14 years, but we are the first ones he has seen who focus on these kinds of details and care. Most people, he said, usually invest their time in the interior or their personal belongings. But I don’t think that’s entirely true; otherwise, there wouldn’t be three mango trees here, or the lemon and pomegranate trees. This corner you’re looking at is actually set around a Java plum tree, so there was definitely someone before us who lovingly nurtured this garden.

It’s touching to think about the care that has gone into this space over the years. Each tree and plant tells a story of the love and dedication from those who came before us, and now we have the privilege of adding our own chapter to this beautiful legacy...

In my next post, I will give you a detailed tour of my garden. I also have tried to set a little vegetable corner that I’m excited to show you—the only corner that I am really enthusiastic about!

This picture is totally irrelevant, but I roped my husband into finishing the basket I started! Why not, right? I had AI snap the picture for him 🤷🏽

A temporarily garden... I think I would cry when to leave the treasures planted and cared for by myself...
