Buying and How to Use Motorcycle ECU or ECM Research Tools
Hello all of you steem users who have automatic motorbikes, today, I will introduce the Honda and Yamaha Motorcycle CCM Research Tool. This CCM research tool was made by the first manufacturer around Jakarta City, and I bought this tool at the online market.
Maybe a few years ago, I also introduced an ECU research tool for four-wheeled vehicles, and there are also some very functional parts there for us to learn together, but this time, I only discuss the ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) or ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) research tool for injection motorbikes. and if our motorbike already has an ECM, then the combustion system already uses something called an injector with a fuel spraying system in a mist, not flowing into the combustion area, with this tool, we can also find out, the performance of the vehicle system that we have works on which MODE. to research how our vehicle system works, whether our vehicle works in MODE 1, MODE 2, MODE 3, MODE 4. and if in Indonesia, almost on average using the sensor system work system in Mode 1. hopefully you understand here ok.
Well, what I wrote is directly based on my own experience, because of the severe damage to the motorbike that I have with very large expenses, so sometimes, to learn about automotive matters in the field of motorbikes, we do need a teacher, to learn from previous damage, and what needs to be underlined is that we also need a tool to practice it. so, a teacher can practice it directly, by having a tool to provide lessons to his students especially in the automotive field and its technical fields. so that students better master the learning outcomes of the stages of success in achieving it.
well, this cheap tool, I bought it online, for around IDR. 50,000, - very expensive shipping costs around IDR. 60,000, - and I bought this tool with the cost of selling SBD and STEEM last week. with some photo results, you can see below:
ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) or ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE)
After this tool arrived, it turned out that this tool was shaped like the one below:
This tool, works manually with a reading of damage that is assessed with several flashes on the motorcycle, and you can pay attention to it on the part of your motorcycle's Speedometer, with a sign, if some signs there will light up with "red" and on the part with the engine symbol "engine check sign" will flash for several flashes as a sign of damage, and that flash is a sign that there is damage to your motorcycle, so that steem users understand better, I have made an image that you can use as a guide, to anticipate damage to your motorcycle, on the top screen of the vehicle's speedometer. can pay attention to the image below:
Well, in the two pictures above are the check marks if your engine has a problem, and will produce 2 colors at the same time, namely "
- The red color will remain without flashing, indicating that the engine temperature is hot.
- The yellow color will flash if there is a problem with the engine
- The yellow color will flash if some sensors have problems or are damaged.
So, this tool is unique in that it will notify the vehicle owner with a sign or code of the number of yellow flashes only. The flashes I mean, this tool has also written it on the tool I bought, and to make it clearer, I will write it again below, so that Steem users can find out.
Signs of damage based on the number of flashes:
1 . number of flashes to check for damage to the MAP sensor
7 . number of flashes to check for damage to the EOT/ECT sensor
8 . number of flashes to check for damage to the TPS sensor
9 . number of flashes to check for damage to the IAT sensor
11 . number of flashes to check for damage to the SPEED sensor
12 . number of flashes to check for damage to the INJECTOR sensor
21 . number of flashes to check for damage to the O2 sensor
29 . number of flashes to check for damage to the IACV sensor
33 . number of flashes to check for damage to the ECM/ECU sensor
52 . number of flashes to check for damage to the CKP sensor
54 . number of flashes to check for damage to the BAS sensor
Well, the flashes above, to refer to your vehicle's speedometer screen, okay, so the number of flashes, we will know and read, when the motorcycle ignition key is turned on. and you just have to count it, but if it doesn't flash, your motorcycle's spda is definitely not damaged. on the vehicle sensors.
even though later there is damage with certain symptoms, with this tool, you can only make sure that the sensor part is not damaged and only experiences damage to the engine part. and if you read this section, if your motorbike has problems, you can comment below later, and I will answer it as far as your question can be answered, according to the damage that I have experienced so far okay.
Research Tool Socket ECU/ECM
On this tool, there are 2 male sockets connected with (-) and (+) signs, let's see them below:
and on the motorcycle socket there is also a socket hole connected with the (-) and (+) signs, let's see it below:
Motorcycle ECU/ECM Socket
so that you can find out the location of the ECU/ECM socket on the vehicle, you can check the location of this socket, near the location of the motorcycle battery, well, it is located right next to the battery position, and the battery position is in two parts of the vehicle, namely:
- at the footrest position below.
- at the front of the motorcycle behind the headlights.
Connecting the Research Tool Socket to the Motorcycle
ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) atau ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE)
After everything is connected, then, the next thing we have to do to research the ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) or ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) is:
- Connect the research tool to the ECU/ECM connector
- Position the tool, in the "RESEARCH" position
- The ignition key is in the "ON" position only (do not turn it on)
- Pay attention to the blinking on your motorbike's speed screen:
if both sockets are connected between the vehicle socket and the research tool socket, with the ignition key position "ON". Note: (the vehicle is not turned on) only the ignition key position "ON". then, what you should pay attention to is based on the blinking only. as I wrote above.
and if after the ignition key is "on" it does not blink or does not light up with a yellow sign, it means that your motorbike has no problems with all parts of the sensors owned by your vehicle ok. because this tool only detects damage to the sensors, and not to the engine parts, for example:
- leaking piston ring that can emit smoke
- fine leaking valve, the motorbike is difficult to start in the morning and is difficult to start if parked for too long.
- loose ignition bushing hole
- rusty ignition bushing cover
Well, the last thing you should know is that the motor that we have, if when doing repairs, sometimes, the mechanic does not research all the performance of the sensors on our vehicle, after the mechanic removes some sensors, then, even though we have replaced the spare parts, our motorbike is still damaged, such as:
- gas is not instantaneous
- gas is flat
- vehicle speed is jerky
- when the ignition is disconnected, suddenly reconnected.
- the exhaust hole part smokes, emits repeated farts :))
- we have replaced all the spare parts, the vehicle is still having problems
which in fact, the problem is that all the sensors on our vehicles, still read the old damage codes, so from my experience I want to share with steem users and the STEEM community, we really need this research tool, if we have done repairs, because, if the mechanic forgets to delete the damage code in the workshop, or the mechanic does not have this tool, when we repair the motorbike in the workshop, then, we can research all sensors, so that the damage code that is read and embedded in the ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) or ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE) sensor can be deleted, by learning how and using this tool, hopefully steem users understand the function and benefits of this tool, to avoid other damage and can spend a lot of money just because of small things, the sensor damage code, has not been deleted in the ECU (ENGINE CONTROL UNIT) or ECM (ENGINE CONTROL MODULE). so, I bought it for my personal use. to restore the Sensor system to work properly.
hopefully, what I explained in my post, can be useful for all steem users, to maintain the stability of your driving on the road.
if later there is something you want to ask, you can leave a comment below ok, I will definitely answer it, about your vehicle problems if a problem occurs.
Hope this is useful, have a nice holiday and may you and your family stay healthy.
regards
