The Screen Addict Recommends – Grisham and Beyond
I’m a sucker for Legal Thrillers and Courtroom Dramas, in particular those adapted from the work of John Grisham.
Furthermore, there have been several Grisham-contenders throughout the years that have given the Arkansas Auteur a proper run for his money.
𝗔 𝗙𝗲𝘄 𝗚𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟮) and 𝗔 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝟭𝟵𝟵𝟴) are among my personal courtroom-themed favorites – two “Grishamless” Legal Thrillers that actually also rank pretty high on my list of best pictures in any genre.
I haven’t seen big-screen splendor similar to the Grisham films of The Nineties in many recent efforts, probably because this type of mid-budget production just isn’t theatrically viable anymore.
Fortunately, the OTT players appear eager to bridge that gap with solid straight-to-platform releases like 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟯) and 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗧𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗴𝗼 𝟳 (𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟬) – not to mention the many excellent series that are situated in the arena of law, crime and punishment.
In any case…
Seek ‘em out & get your fix.
