The Screen Addict (sort of) Recommends – 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟱)

I think 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁 is a truly phenomenal film, but my problem is that I don’t like ANY of the real-life characters portrayed in it…

There is no “Save the Cat!” element.

The bottom line is that everyone is out to make as much money as possible at the expense of less fortunate people – after all, that is the essence of going short.

When the film ends, the clever finance-cowboys who predicted the economic meltdown all get rich but they feel oooh sooo bad about it…

Crying all the way to the bank, as Liberace would say.

I find it difficult to root for hypocritical hedge-fund guys. Say about 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗹𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝗪𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁 (𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟯) what you will – definitely no cats being saved in that film – but at least Jordan Belfort owned up to being a soulless money-grubber.

Nevertheless…

Seek it out & get your fix.
