Chelsea in Bloom part I

in WORLD OF XPILAR3 years ago (edited)

Despite having been in London for over a decade I really didn't even know about Chelsea in bloom, there is always so much going on and unless your actively searching or you hear about it on the grapevine it's hard to know whats going on. I saw a friend posting some photos of Chelsea in bloom and knew I had to get down there with my camera. I ended up going super late on the last day, Saturday. As mentioned in my other post this was kind of the perfect time as I got to partake in the looting of the final days plants (https://steemit.com/hive-185836/@ultravioletmag/chelsea-in-bloom-carnage), but next year I definitely want to get there early as well as on the last day and see everything when it is fresh as some of the displays were starting to droop slightly by the 6th day.

I missed some really awesome displays as I just didn't get to them in time before it went dark like the cake stand, the corgis, the elephant with the spices and herbs but what I did see was AMAZING and as a plant lover I cannot believe I have never been before. The Chelsea flower show costs £90 a ticket but the Chelsea in bloom is free. It is where all the shops around Chelsea put on a display in the hopes of winning various awards.

The theme this year was 'British Icons. Taken from the official
website "2022’s theme is ‘British Icons’ and draws inspiration from the characters, symbols and emblems across the United Kingdom that make us Great Britain and bring us together in celebration for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee taking place the following week.

‘British Icons’ promises exciting floral installations, encapsulating the UK’s exceptional talent and character from across the fields of fashion, art, design, music, food, sport, literature and more."

Bear with me since there are just so many photos I am going to split this up a little, so as not to bombard.

I have never attended the Chelsea flower show myself really. GLH, the chain of hotels I used to work for, got so busy around this event and the prices went up like crazy. A family member used to go there for work as the company she worked for had a stand and exhibited there every year. I like the sound of the elephant with the herbs and spices. I love the exotic display with the zebra and my favourite photo of yours from this part is the wide angle of the Union Jack bunting. It reminds me of similar photos I have taken in Cornwall.

This is Chelsea in bloom so unlike the flower show it’s free I can’t believe I only just found out about it I’ll never miss it again now. Defo go next year if you get chance! Maybe one of the most amazing things I’ve seen in London. But I do love plants

Sorry replied from my fashion photography page! Try and separate both Altho these days I kind of wish I never did that as just too hard to respond to all the comments!
