Photo contest: post processing #4

This is another one of those tasks...!

And like our friend @michelangelo3 I stood there and thought.... And thought... And thought: what now?

There are pictures that appeal to me immediately and others. Some of them take a little longer to reach me. And then there are those that don't succeed at all. You could say that they don't catch my attention. Of course, that must be because of the pictures... They are simply wrong!

With that in mind, I set about correcting the original at hand. In the back of my mind I have the daily environment here in Berlin: construction is going on everywhere - whether it be roads, houses, commercial buildings, embankments, underground railways, power lines or anything else... And where there is construction, there are barriers. As opaque as possible and with at most a hint of what is hidden behind the fence.

To simulate this, I cut out individual elements from the photo. A fence needs rather vertical separations instead of the horizontal ones of the depicted cabin, so the sector was rotated and additionally distorted in the colours - sometimes a screaming colourfulness is set against the dreariness of the surroundings here (with questionable success). A few autumn-bare trees at a further distance and clearly soft-drawn were placed behind it. On the newly created fence you will find pigeon repellent spikes. This is a very cruel invention to keep the birds from sitting in such places. On the one hand, one might understand this: the masses of pigeon droppings are otherwise not a pleasant thing. But the risk of injury to the animals is considerable and it seems a bit martial. However, we now see these installations everywhere. By the way, such a construction also keeps curious climbers away quite effectively... The result looks like this:

In view of this sober and distracting impression I have fabricated, I suddenly find the original photo very relaxed and simple and pleasant for the tired eyes... ;-)) So maybe the quiet riverbank with the bike path and a lonely beach area shouldn't really be tinkered with at all?

Excuse me - I didn't stay directly on the path that the competition set. I just got into fantasising and constructing, and one thing led to another. Of course, there is nothing at all wrong with the original photo and of course it is up to me and my preferences if I do not react to it with enthusiastic approval! Please forgive the initial irony...

Und wie unser Freund @michelangelo3 stand ich nun so da und dachte... Und dachte... Und dachte: was nun?

Es gibt halt Bilder, die mich sofort ansprechen und andere. Davon brauchen manche etwas länger, um bei mir zu landen. Und dann gibt es noch die, denen das gar nicht gelingt. Also die holen mich nicht ab, könnte man sagen. Das muß natürlich auf jeden Fall an den Bildern liegen... Die sind einfach falsch!

Mit dem Ansatz machte ich mich daran, das vorliegende Original zu korrigieren. Im Hinterkopf habe ich dabei das tägliche Umfeld hier in Berlin: an allen Ecken wird gebaut - ob das Straßen, Häuser, Gewerbeobjekte, Uferbefestigungen, U-Bahnen, Leitungskanäle oder sonst etwas sein mögen... Und wo gebaut wird, wird abgesperrt. Möglichst blickdicht und mit maximal dem Hauch einer Ahnung, was hinter dem Zaun wohl so verborgen ist.

Um das zu simulieren, schnitt ich einzelne Elemente aus dem Foto aus. Ein Zaun braucht eher senkrechte Trennungen statt der waagerechten der abgebildeten Kabine, also wurde der Sektor gedreht und zusätzlich in den Farben verfälscht - manchmal wird hier der Tristesse der Umgebung ein schreiendes Bunt entgegengesetzt (mit fraglichem Erfolg). Ein paar herbstkahle Büme in weiterer Entfernung und deutlich weichgezeichnet wurden dahinter platziert. Auf dem neu geschaffenen Zaun sehr Ihr noch Taubenabwehrspikes. Das ist eine ganz grausame Erfindung, mit denen die Vögel abgehalten werden sollen, sich auf solchen Plätzen niederzulassen. Auf der einen Seite mag man das verstehen: der massenhafte Taubenkot ist andernfalls keine angenehme Sache. Aber die Verletzungsgefahr für die Tiere ist erheblich und es wirkt ein wenig martialisch. Wie auch immer: wir sehen diese Vorrichtungen mittlerweile überall. Neugierige Kletterer hält so eine Konstruktion im übrigen auch ganz effektiv ab... Im Ergebnis sieht das dann so aus:

Angesichts dieser nüchternen und abweisenden Anmutung, die ich da fabriziert habe, finde ich das Originalfoto auf einmal sehr entspannt und schlicht und angenehm für die müden Augen... ;-)) An dem stillen Flußufer mit dem Radweg und einem einsamen Strandbereich sollte man also vielleicht gar nicht unbedingt herumbasteln?

Entschuldigt - ich bin nicht direkt auf dem Pfad geblieben, den der Wettbewerb vorgab. Ich kam halt ins Fabulieren und Konstruieren und so fügte sich eins zum anderen. Natürlich ist überhaupt nichts am Ausgangsfoto auszusetzen und selbstverständlich liegt es an mir und meinen Präferenzen, wenn ich darauf nicht mit enthusiastischem Wohlgefallen reagiere! Verzeiht bitte die anfängliche Ironie...
