RE: The Concept Behind SteemSilverRound
Unfortunately, without the driving force of a community behind it, iys highly unlikely to get off the ground.
The initial outlay ($$$) is far too high with the risks associated of not being able to sell them.
We were lucky with the steemsilvergold/silvergoldstackers community in that initial funds were raised by the community, and taken off the final price. Plus we knew we could sell 1500 coins.
1500 coins today would equate to around $55,000!!!
If we could somehow get @steemit / @steemcurator2 etc to fund, id be more than happy to manage the logistics on their behalf. But I cant afford to take this on by myself.
This means that each coin will have a selling price of approx. 50 dollars + shipping.
If the largest local communities in steemit join together, it may be possible to make this happen. An account can be created where several trusted people have keys to which pre-paid orders are paid. But it can be difficult with the price of steem/SBD.
The best thing is if it could be pre-paid with USDT. @pennsif do you have any ideas
Maybe The Steemit Team @steemcurator01 can come up with some ideas for this.
Getting some idea of how many people would buy them would be the starting point.
The more we make, the cheaper the end oroduct becomes.
While price of silver is fixed at the current spot price (£26/$32usd) and we cant do much about that, we can shop around for a mint that would be willing to produce our coin and negotiate over their fees.
One of the biggest initial outlays would be the manufacturing of the dyes needed to press the designs into the coin. These arent cheap!! It takes a lot of man-hours to make these. A plus sidenis that we then "own" these dyes to keep and use indefinitely. You can even auction off them to help subsidise the final price of the coins.
As @pensif said, the first thing to do is find outnif there is an actual demand?? My guesstimate would be, we would need to guarantee 1000 sales to make it logistically worthwhile.
Ill get a post out later with some ideas and what not
I have received a pre-order with a total of 16 coins if there will be a new SteemSilverRound
cc: @pennsif @welshstacker
That is a good start!
16 down, 984 to go!!
1000 might be tricky.
Do you know how many were minted for each of the previous Silver Rounds?
1500 pieces
