INTRODUCTION

Greetings my lovely friends in steem Ghana community, am super glad to take part in this awesome contest. Am a lover of fiction and when I was a kid, I heard too many stories which I grabbed so many life lessons from. Although it's a shame that these day we hardly see people sharing such stories but am super glad I was fortunate to get my own stories. Amongst every stories I heard as a child, I picked much interest in the stories of tortoise so I will gladly share the stories with you all.

1. HOW TORTOISE GOT HIS BROKEN SHELL

A long time ago in the land of animals, a banquet was organised in the bird family and all animals agreed on attending the festival. Amongst all the animals that volunteered to attend was tortoise, but he can't fly because he has no feathers. The birds being considerate, decided to lend him feathers so that they all can attend the meeting.

When they got to the meeting, tortoise being a cunny animals told the birds that they should name themselves and immediately he took the name "all of you" for himself. So when it was time to serve them food, the organizers of the event brought different types of food and drinks and said that it belongs to "all of you" so other animals tried to take the food but tortoise told them to remember that his name is " all of you" which means the all the food and gifts belongs to him and he took everything to himself.

Out of anger, the birds took the feathers they lent to tortoise and abandon him there so when they were leaving he pleaded with them to tell his wive to set bed for him so that when he fall he will fall inside the bed but the animals went and told his wive that he wants her to set anything that can injure someone and she placed both machete, hoe, shovel, hammer and other dangerous weapons so when he fell, he fell on top of all these weapons and his shells were all broken to pieces. This is the end of my first story.

MORAL LESSON

• Greed is one thing that can destroy a man, so in life try as much as possible to do away with greed.
• Anger is very bad and it can lead to destroying oneself and others around, no matter how bad someone hurt you always try to forgive and leave judgement for God.
• Retaliating when one is very upset or angry can damage too many things.
• The consequences of a cunny and dubious lifestyle is always deadly and never ends well.

2. WHY THE FOWL IS ALWAYS USED FOR SACRIFICE

A long time ago in the land of the animals, there was a great hunger and too many calamities befall the land of the animals so the animals were all dying. The death continued in the land which left them in bitter tears always so to a point they decided to look for solution for their problems.

On a fateful day they agreed to have a general meeting in which they invited the chief priest to seek for enquires from the gods. On the day of the meeting, the fowl decided not to go but his friends tried their best to convince him but he insisted on not going and told them to go that anything they agree on he will give them his support.

At the meeting, the chief priest told them that the gods are angry with them and in order to appease the gods that one animal need to be sacrificed in order to cleanse their land.

The animals was scared of who will die but when they looked around and didn't see fowl and asked his friends about him and they told them that he says that he is in support of any decision they took so the animals agreed on using the fowl for the sacrifice. That was how the sacrifice of fowl started. This is the end of my second story.

MORAL LESSON

• Stop being too reluctant about everything because some decisions you're not a part of can be against you.
• While talking to people including friends mind your choice of words because people can easily judge you with your words.
• The crowd can be against one person but one person can go against the crowd, be careful.
• The choices you make today can make or mare you in the future, look before you leap.

CONCLUSION

Stories be it fiction, fairy tales or real life stories has its moral lessons so it's not just enough to listen to stories as much as it is important to grab the moral lessons. My life today is the embodiment of moral lessons I learnt from the moon light stories my granny told me when I was a kid which is why I always pass the stories across to my friends and as writer story shouldn't end in your time, pass it across to the younger ones.

Finally, I must appreciate the admin of this great Community and his/her team for making this community conducive enough for all and sundry and I must also thank the organizer of this amazing contest for giving us such opportunity to share stories from the olden days, I hope to see similar contest again.
