HOW TO TRACK YOUR PROGRESS AS A NEWBIE
Greetings everyone,
In this article, I will be guiding newbies on the overview of their account and how important it is to grow these stats on the steemit blockchain.
As a newbie, your account is still quite fresh and just like any seedling, it must be nurtured well in order to grow into a matured plant. Here on the steem blockchain, there are various steps you must undertake in order to first understand how steemit works in order to effectively grow your account.
To start with, I would like you to visit https://steemworld.org/@yourusername Simply replace "yourusername" with your actual username and log in with your posting key.
Once it has finished loading, you can see a brief overview of your account. Today, I will be considering the stats section of your account. This is because it provides the overall details of your account and is ideal for checking your progress on the blockchain.
This can be found by simply heading to left hand side of steemworld.org after login.
Let's now break down the items under this heading.
- Effective SP : This is an indication of the steem power your account uses vote posts on the steem blockchain. It is the sum of your own steem power, delegation received, minus your outgoing delegation. Mine can be seen below.
Delegation is a whole different mechanism which allows you to allocate some of your steem power to an account to use in curation. This can be taken at any time but we will reserve that topic for another time.
- Vote amount: This shows the user how must vote can be awarded at various voting power. As a newbie, you automatically utilize a 100% voting power during voting but once you cross the 500 SP mark, an adjustable bar appears during voting so you can adjust as you see fit.
- RC (Resource Credits) : Resource credits are influenced by how much steem power an account has and are used to issue various transactions on the steem blockchain such as posting, commenting, following users, etc. It accumulates over a 5 day period and cannot be transferred anywhere. Once exhausted, a user cannot issue said transactions until it replenishes.
- Reputation : Reputation on steemit is a numerical representation of the growth of an account and how trustworthy it is. All newcomers start with a reputation of 25 and must focus on growing it from there. This can be done through the completion of your achievement post tasks within the newcomer's community and participation in ongoing contest. To put simply, posting valuable content on steem is key to building this reputation.
Usually, an account with less than 25 reputation usually indicates a fraudulent, spamming or an account that is fond of content abuse.
- Followers : This section indicates the number of users you are following as well as those that follow you. It is advisable to build great friendship and good relationships on steemit just like any other social media.
- Post Count - On your profile, there is always an indication of the posts you have made of steem but it doesn't specify how many of those are comments. Here you can differentiate posts from comments and also see the replies you have received. Steemit is a place to foster engagement and build connections so be sure to always give valuable comments to other users.
- Vote count - Voting is another way of fostering engagement and motivating content creators on steemit. This is because once we vote on a user's post they are also attracted towards yours since you care for them. Vote count therefore shows the number of votes one has issued as well as received on steemit.
- Voting CSI - This is a numerical indication of the voting pattern of a user on steemit. It considers the number of accounts you issued votes, self vote habits, etc within a 7 day period. Users must therefore keep an eye on there voting csi and strive to increase this number each week.
Finally, I would like to highlight on the habit of constant self voting on steemit (voting abuse) . I do not advise you indulge in this act. This is because when everyone's focus is solely on the betterment of themselves and not community oriented, the whole ecosystem fails. We must therefore strive to visit other content creators, comment and upvote their post so that we can all grow together.
This can be seen from tis excerpt from the SteemWhitePaper below.
Thank you for your attention.
