Greetings everyone,

Since we have more newcomers joining us here on steemit, I deem it necessary to provide relevant guidance to steer their steps here in our community. Many of these new recruits have little knowledge and experience when it comes to the world of blogging and creating valuable content.

As such, here are some tips to guide newbies on steemit.

ADOPT THE USE OF PARAGRAPHS

In order to gain the attention of your audience, they must be able to follow your article and the idea you are presenting. Your article may be great but if it is difficult to read, your audience will find it difficult to follow what it is you have to say.

The example below clearly show us a good example of paragraph utilization in your post. There is a main idea and the rest elaborates and throws more light on the main idea on the floor.

Once are satisfied with our elaboration, we can then go ahead and transition towards the next idea.

UTILIZE MARKDOWNS IN YOUR POST

Markdowns are ways through which we format our post and make it more attractive and appealing to our audience. This way, we are able to keep our readers focused on reading our article and interested in following our accounts. This is why it is very crucial to make our posts appealing. Some markdowns can be seen below.

CENTER

Sometimes, in order to put up heading or for a an idea to be easily noticed, we want to center it. This is usually done on images and source citations. In order to do this, simple follow the guide below.

text/image

In the case of an image, the result will look like this.

LINE SPACE

Insertion of line spacing within your article could play a huge role in the readability of your words. You wouldn't want
separate ideas to be too attached to each other or your images too close to your paragraphs.

This is why you must inculcate the use of line spaces as seen below. It is simply done by putting a few dashes (3 or more0 together on a fresh line.

THE USE OF BOLD/ITALICS

Also, at times we want some keywords in our posts to stand out to our audience. This can be achieved by using either bold or italics as some sort of highlighter to grab your reader's attention.

  • For Italics, follow the format below.
    *text*

The outcome will look like text.

  • For bold, follow the format below.
    **text**

The outcome will look like text.

CITE YOUR SOURCES PROPERLY

You must respect the proof of brain concept of steemit and create your own content. And when some part of your article either text or image has been borrowed from elsewhere, be sure to cite it. Otherwise, post is said to plagiarized or you have engaged in copyright abuse.

As a newbie, you are encouraged to visit achievement 3 for more information regarding this subject.

Here are some cites for finding copyright free images.

They can then be cited using the format below.

WRITE AT LEAST 250 WORDS

In writing your post or artlcle make sure that your article is of great detail and that everything is well explained. Post that are made in a haste or with no concern about the audience understanding usually fall on death ears. This is because no care is taken to elaborate the various points outlined within the post.

Each point must therefore be explained with examples if possible which is why more that 250 words is recommended.

I hope that with this guide, we can now find posts of great quality in our community henceforth. Questions and contributions are welcome as usual.

Thank you for your attention.
