I've Quit My Job To Travel & Live Where I Always Dreamt of Living

in Traveling Steem3 months ago

Hi Traveling Steem, today I want to tell you a story about why I quit my stable and secure job, to embark on a risky but fulfilling journey.

I'm an English teacher, and because teaching English isn't very rewarding in Egypt, I had a sales job that I never enjoyed, I just did it for the money, it provided me with a stable and rewarding income, but every time I was about to start working, I felt that I wasn't born to do this and that I have to do the thing I enjoy the most; teaching.

It was very difficult to leave a job behind your back that pays at least 4x the average salary here in Egypt, but I felt that if I continued to so this job, I'd be a miserable man, and I'll live a miserable life, which is the thing I fear the most.

Then I asked myself: "What if I died today?" This is very possible by the way, because none of us know when he's going to die, I'd rather die doing the thing I love than work for money and feel worthless. Everything that we do involves risk anyway, no matter how you think you're standing on solid ground, the pandemic made us all realize that anyone can lose his job anytime, and you might just receive a text message telling you that you're fired.

I quit my job because I'd rather be poor and happy than rich and miserable, and I'm packing my bags to get back to the place I loved the most, the place that still has my soul; Dahab.

I'm going to teach English at the beautiful city of Dahab, and it might take much time till I find enough students and learners, I might fail at making a living off of it, I might even starve or live with very little, but one thing I know for sure is that I'll never regret it.

Jeff Bezos once said: > “I knew that if I failed I wouldn’t regret that, but I knew the one thing I might regret is not trying.”

I hope it will work out for me, because then I'll be the happiest living at this wonderful city, and I know most of you have never been there, so I'll leave you with some of the photos I took there.
I know there are better places, but I never felt as peaceful, and to me it's the best place in the world.
