BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE
Sword against the serpent!
Sword against the hydra,
taxing, giant beast!
Hydra that drains our blood!
Sword in essence and motion,
oh miserable, unworthy people!
Unworthy of your ancestors.
Unworthy of the present life,
of your children, of all that projects
into a future beyond age.
While some only talk and chew,
others drown in the endless river.
Others fight,
perhaps your children,
happy to one day become
something of worth: a fist,
power, and purpose,
something to bind the possible intellect
to its subject.
Dogs!
My intrepid terror,
grim, yet without a fixed direction,
throws a mirror at you!
Dogs!
I do not call upon you, no, my "pale Vasco,"
but upon those who today can be the executioners of such people,
a merit that leaves me so disheartened,
and fills me with agony... Ah,
endure a little longer this fervor,
endure the perpetual brilliance of its effect,
before it's too late.
