teach children to write and draw at home
Seeing my 2 year old son start writing and drawing was a very touching and impressive experience. Even though he is still very young, I can already see the interests and abilities developing in him. What made this moment even more special was the fact that he was able to do it without any direct guidance or teaching from me.
At the age of 2 years, children's fine motor development is still in the early stages. However, my son seems to have a strong curiosity and drive to try new things including writing and drawing. Every time I give him a pen or something and paper, he seems very eager to try scribbling and making signs that he finds interesting. Even though his writing was unclear and his drawings could not be described as orderly, there was a certain beauty in the freedom and creativity he displayed.
Watching him try to write, even though it often only resulted in random lines or formless strokes, gave me insight into the way he tried to understand the world around him. Writing things down is an early representation of developing motor skills and attempts to communicate. Even though they have not yet formed legible letters, this process is an important first step in learning and cognitive development.
On the other hand, when he draws them they may not look like clearly recognizable images, but they are a reflection of his imagination. He may draw shapes that seem random to adults, but to my son every stroke and shape has its own meaning. It was a creative expression free of limitations and expectations, a way for my son to communicate with the world around him.
What I am most proud of is the fact that all of this happened naturally without the need for intensive instruction or guidance from me. This shows how strong a child's natural drive to learn and be creative is. Every time I saw him attempt to write or draw, I felt like I was witnessing the beginning of his long journey of exploring and understanding the world through art and writing. I know that my writing and drawing skills will continue to develop with age and experience. But now I feel grateful and proud to see my child enjoying the learning and creative process in such a pure and enthusiastic way. It was a beautiful and meaningful little moment in his growth journey that had just begun.
