Skunk cabbage is the first official sign of spring around here, and these guys were little and tiny then. They are kind of an interesting plant in the fact that they go through a process called thermogenesis. They produce heat as they grow, so if the ground is snow covered, it will still push up through the snow. They are poisonous to eat the leaves, but the root is said to be edible. Given the way they smell and that fact about the leaves, I wouldn't eat it. Thanks for stopping by! Take care my friend!🤗🤗🤗
