NEWS FROM MOLYKO (BUEA) IN THE MORNING OF 12/01/2022
It was not all well in the early morning of Tuesday 12/01/2022 in molyko when the Mali national team was training for their AFCON match against Tunisia when gun shots seized the moment and force the town to shut down for some time. The gun shots were fired by suspected Ambazonia fighters who are doing everything possible so disrupt the AFCON which is going on the Cameroon and Limbe is one of the towns hosting one of the groups.
In the course of the shootings, it has been reported that some persons including a taxi driver and a farmer lost their lives while other property was lost as well.
Even though the situation was stabilised later on, fear continued to roam around the air and this has raise security concerns on foreigners who are presently in cameroon for the grand football bonanza.
Earlier, some Algerians were rubbed or harrassed by thieves in Douala and yesterday there were gun shots that disrupted training and people lost their lives. We now begin to wonder if visitors will have a feel-at-home atmosphere as we publicly wish them to do.
The situation however ended in joy for Mali as they grasp all 3 points in a 0:1 win over Tunisia even though there were time controversies around the dying minutes of the game.
As things stand, Mali won the match and sanctions may be placed on the referee who officiated the match.
Together, let us work for peace so that our visitors stay and go in peace without having bad reputation against us.
