“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done . . . Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise."
Philippians 4:6-8 (NLT)1

Though this sounds contrary to popular opinion but you need to know that God wants you to trust him one day at a time. He wants you asking each day for your “daily bread” (Matthew 6:11 ESV), not for your a weekly or monthly bread or yearly bread as most of us are in the habit of doing.

Apostle Paul in Philippians 4:6-8 says,

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done . . . Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise” ( NLT).

Living in a desperately crazy world which on daily bases challenges Christian principles exposes us to our limitations and causes us to each look down on some foundations principles of faith. In the passage we just read, the apostle Paul is teaches us four things to do daily as we trust God:

1. Don't worry about nothing. Worrying is a keynote that all around you is not under control. Jesus Christ said, “Don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today” (Matthew 6:34 NLT)2
There is a guarantee that trouble will come today, and it will be enough for today. If this be the case, why then should I not worry? You need not worry because it’s not just a bad habit, it’s a sin. God has always keep to his promises, and you can trust that he will take care of you.

2. Pray about everything. Prayer moves mountains, it's changes things. Look at Romans 8:32, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?”3 Does this mean anything to you? If God had solved your biggest problem (the sin that kept you away from heaven - that is if you have have believe and surrendered to Christ as Lord and Savior) when he sent Jesus to die for you, if demonstrated his love for you enough to send Jesus to die for you while you were yet a sinner, don’t you think demonstrating such love is prove enough that He will take care of all your other problems?

3. In everything, give thank. This is where you know the level of someone's trust in God. Thanking God in the everything in life has never been out habit. We rather know how to complaint and abandoned the ways of God when our things happen the way we were not expecting. As a believer in Christ no matter what happens, give thanks. Popular opinion says you don’t have to be thankful for bad things in your life. You should never be thankful for evil. You don’t have to be thankful for COVID-19 or a car accident. But beloved, God says that in everything you should give thanks. But why would He say such a thing? Because He knows that He is going to take care of you. You know this! You know he is going to meet your needs.

4. Think about the right things. Mental conditioning is central to living trust God for your daily bread. In Philippians 4, God through apostle Paul has given us a list of things to think about. He says you have to be "thinking about things that are true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and worthy of praise."4

Where do you find such things from? Things that are pure and lovely to think about? If you are looking to find them by watching TV or scrolling through social media, you won't. You find pure, lovely, and honorable thoughts in the Word of God, the Bible. Read it, study it, memorize it, meditate on it and fill your mind with it daily. Isaiah 26:3 says, “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!” (NLT).5

Make today the day you start trusting God to take care of your day-to-day needs. Stop worrying. It won't change anything. God will, therefore trust him to care for you
