Creative writing Volume 18: How Farming Is Done In Your Community
Farming can be define as the process of tilling ground to plant and grow seeds and havest food stuffs. Also the raring of animals to produce milk and meat for sale.
There are many different types of farming but the main type of farming practiced is my area is intensive farming.
Intensive farming is cultivation of crops on a very large area with the use of chemicals and machine over a period of time examples are maize cultivate, rice cultivation etc.
Rice cultivation.
Rice is crop cultivation in my area through intensive farming. Rice is usually always cultivated in the low level and swampy area usually over a period of about 6 to 7months.
the whole process begins in during the rainy season specifically in july were the farm area os dug and leveled and tge seeds nursed for over a period of 2weeks there are after ready for transplating
As you can see from the photo the nursed seed are matured and ready and the planting process is going on. its being planted in swam because its grows beter in water.
After planting the rice is constantly monitor and followed up over a period of 3months then its time for weeding and fertilizing.
The grasses are being removed to give them rice plants enough space n air to grow healthy and fertilizers are applied by throwing.
After weeding and fertilizer application tge rice is being monitored and followed up for another peroid of 3 to 4months when its read for havesting.
Special knifes are used for the harvesting and packs in hips there are big bag is placed on the ground and log of woods placed on the bags the havested rice plan is he hited on the logs of wood the separate the raice grains form the plant. After the rice grains have been separated fron the plant, the rains are being pack in bags and transported to milling n weighing stations with use of moto bikes and vehicles.
The different types of farming tools used are:
- Dig axe
- holes
3.cutlass
4.cutting knifes - tilling machines
This is the type and farming process practice in my area.
